Here is one of mine. It's a small tape measure from a creamery in northern CA. I got this from my dad and I'm not sure the exact vintage of it so I'll have to ask him next time we talk.
Here is one that I forgot about. I hope it will be a collectors item some day. I never realized that it did say 1st on it.
Ok, bringing back an old post.....just found some more at a tool swapmeet on a big ring of keys. Yes, apparently I'm THAT guy who buys old keys ....but I had to have the fobs and he didn't want to part it out. I did clean them up with Bar Keepers Friend because they were black. First pics are from today's find, the Chevrolet one I found at an Apple farm in Oak Glen...they have a small antique shop in the back. The 3 ford ones aren't fobs, but they should be , they're tool tags from the 20's.
When I was a kid, I thought these were so cool. I wonder how many folks lost their keys in a parking lot, then ended up having their car burglarized or outright stolen? A dishonest soul could find the keys, then walk around until he found your license plate and drive off in the car.
Not a problem in the 50's people were a different breed, honest. I was there and never had a problem in central CA
Cool thread! As far as walking around with the mini plate looking to steal it they made it even easier with new cars having a remote horn button put right in the key! Don't even have to walk down all the isles to find the mystery car that way :S Posted using My Dick Tracy watch and the full custom HAMB app
