I will start with some pics of the car as it sits and some parts i have started to accumulate. I have not picked up the car yet, its still in Tennessee. Hoping to have the car finished by the Meltdown Drags.

Great project to follow along with and always like to see another old Gasser getting built.

Southern Gassers are a great group to be associated with and they put on great shows.

So...started pulling the donor motor down. Sure enough my instincts were right. Plug number one came out very hard, and once pulled it was missing the electrode. So of course couldnt stop there. Once i removed the head. Plugs were hitting all the pistons, and it looks like i may have water in cylinder number 2

Did they have extended tip spark plugs in it?

You can use a retracted tip spark plug.......

have any of the pistons hit hard enough to fracture?

You can try and run these Surface-Gap plugs, they make great power, but are different when it comes to starting your engine.........

    1. longer cranking time
    2. some sputter (goes away shortly)
    3. a increase in idle speed will likely be needed
    4. these are designed for high RPM use ;)

...... or get out the die grinder and shape a spoon in the top of the piston to clearance the plug.

You mean you have money? Haven't seen that in a while. Can I get some? Yes check Scott Rods, good glass for the J. Prices seem reasonable.

Nitrous guys like to use those, no electrode to burn off if the tune isn't right.

Good luck with the build and look forward to seeing it at the Meltdown Drags.
