This is one of the only pictures I have of my grandfather and his car. I've racked my brain, but can't figure out what exactly is it! Help me if you can. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

Looks like a Chevy...but could be a Pontiac or Olds based on the trim on the side of the hood...'35/'36 vintage...can't see the front end and that would be a give-away if we could. R-
God, I didn't even think of Pontaic, I'm sure you hit the nail on the head! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Neat pic. Looks like there's a second hood ornament back at the cowl, also three long antennas. The Buick style skirt trim appears to be painted on.
35 was the only year GM cars were equipped with suicide doors. They were late and missed the first 2 years of a dying idea.
Your GF must have been a pretty hip dude for the time, playing guitar and having a pretty cool car as well. That car is dressed up for the time what with mud flaps, stone guards, the aforementioned antennae and hood ornament, along with the skirts and Hollywood Flippers.
My wife posted this. She was saying her grandfather was poor so hence the painted trim. Thanks for the help. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

You can contact me at [email protected] about the guitar. I am going by the era and the things your grandfather has on the Pontiac. He obviously had the means for the best so I am thinking Gibson. Could be a Sears Silvertone or another company, Epiphone also. I don't know of any other names of guitars from that era. I have Harmony from 1958 and it could be a Harmony but I don't know if they had Harmony's in 1935.
It's a Gibson J-45,and those 1940's ones are magic. Hope it's well cared for and kept in a room with controlled humidity. Grandpa was obviously a very cool guy with good taste in cars and guitars! Scott Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It's definitely 1942 or later, cause the J-45 didn't go into production til 1942. Scott Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You know that really makes me feel good. I just happened upon your wives post and saw a picture of the car. I guessed it was a Pontiac by the fender trim. I hadn't even read the other people's comments. But the guitars I am familiar with and I knew it had to be a Gibson because it was the best back then. Her grandfather may have thought himself poor but a Pontiac was not a "poor man's" car. A Model A would be closer to a lower income. A Gibson was not a cheap guitar back then. Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Jim
