I seem to recall seeing something similar to this on some pro-level drag cars, probably back in the 70s. The names I associate with it are custom painter Bill Roell and striper Jim "Dauber" Farr. It's easy to see the spray gun at the top of that ribbon. But did you spot the little striping dagger at the bottom? I suspect it was originally gold leafed.

You might send those pics to the NHRA museum , their archives are pretty large . Perhaps they could match them to something they have .
