Very much on the bucket list. Gonna have to save up though, the price of everything in that area seems to be higher than giraffe nuts.

I'd love to go, but Bonneville beckons in September. Maybe she'll be dried out by then! Be looking forward to your coverage, as always, JB.

Just got home from Hot August Nights for the first and probably last time, but will be at Bonneville in September and we too hope it dries out!

I would never spend $150.00 on a car show unless it came with hookers. I will be going to the Ironstone Concours in Murphy's Ca. September 27th, I think it costs 20 bucks or so.

The Pebble Beach Concours is a fabulous event. Ignore the crowds and some snottiness. Go to The Monterey Historics early in the morning to watch unloading and prep. Then go to the Concours. Later hang around Carmel to see the cars on the streets. Great iron is great iron and what a setting!!! TEB

I too would love to go to Pebble Beach for the whole experience. A rather new Concours began last year at Pinehurst, NC, about 30 miles from me. The first year I figured I ought to check it out, but hesitated at the $55 ticket cost. I went ahead and really was glad I did. It is a different crowd, but I found most to be more than willing to talk about their cars and were friendly. I had such a great experience that I returned for the second Pinehurst Concours this past May. Again a fun time.

I went about 10 years ago when of all car they featured Austin/Bantams and a friend won best in class with his 31 Austin roadster. Its way out of my league but interesting to see the show and visit the auction tents. I probably will not go again but it was worth the trip. The scenery in that area is amazing.

The Mecum auction is featured on NBCSHD for the next three days beginning today at 3:30 PT. It provides a bit of the feel of the weekend.

    try this from their website;
General Admission Tickets, which include parking, shuttle service, and program, are $275 in advance and $300 on day of show. Children under the age of 12 are admitted at no charge when accompanied by an adult.
not sure if the ticket price is considered a "charitable contribution", but I'd sure love to go so I could see coverage without being interrupted by F40 or the Waxy Guy! (not that their is anything wrong with that!)

We sent this to Pebble. I logged 341hrs in 26 days. Not as easy as it used to be though  I have more trigger and masking time on that car than any I've done in over 40yrs. Still, it came out well and should make a decent showing.

A good Concours is always a worthwhile take. A great example of, everything different is still the same. The passion, commitment and dedication to the task at hand is still front and center with these people just like racers, rodders or tail-draggers. The genre may be different until you get them talkin' cars and the stories are all the same as Hambers and the excitement goes up as the tales get longer. Keeping history alive and loving old cars for no sensible reason other than it's in our blood is a common thread here.

The New York Times had an article on Ruxton's at Pebble Beach, guessing that the one you painted is one of them.

Not one of those in the story, but one of the known survivors spoken of. A late car, actually titled as a 32, and perhaps one of the last that were assembled/finished by court order when the company folded. There were a few little differences that had shown up during the project. I don't expect a win, but it's pretty striking. In colors (like blues, reds, greens) they can be a tad loud, maybe even hard on the eyes. With the subtle grey tones and the ivory shade of the white it actually works.

Can we here imagine a hot rod showing up at a Goodguys or NSRA meet painted like that? I honestly want to do one for that venue. A benign 4 door sedan, some off brand but done well, then add the Joseph Urban paint design. I'd guess a 50/50 love/hate reaction. Any takers?

As an aside, I admire Mr Meyers immensely if for nothing else than owning that Tank.

Looking forward to all the Pebble Beach coverage here on the HAMB, it has been on my "Bucket List" forever, maybe 2015 will be our year to finally get there. Sure will be nice to see the RUXTON lineup. Bob

PBCbest of show14.jpg 54 Ferrari 375 MM closed coupe. Stunning car, very modern in appearance for 54 and well deserved. No I wasn't there. Watched it on a live feed. Quick edit, found this shot:

I went in 1985. That was the year they had all of the surviving Bugatti Royales gathered together on the lawn. Not sure when that will happen again. I don't remember what I paid in admission, or if they were even charging admission back then. If they were, it wasn't much as I don't recall being concerned about it.

Has another show caved to the Year Cut Off???????? I've always thought Pebble Beach was a 1942 and older show for the Best In Show Award. It's apples and grapefruit to compair pre and post WWII cars IMO. Bob

    This was my first Pebble Beach. Outstanding event in many ways. Even met Jay Leno. Check off my bucket list. :) ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426641.954533.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426659.916707.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426684.187796.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426694.785495.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426708.625278.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426721.897295.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426737.896468.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426764.982075.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426777.331470.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426794.276265.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426809.867813.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426825.496769.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426851.612446.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426868.656916.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426889.497413.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426974.128514.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408426988.262731.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408427005.627235.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408427019.799987.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1408427047.652449.jpg
