Hi I have found several ways to view interesting topics on this website as a guest. However I am having difficulty trying to find ways to access the same areas and submit threads now I have joined. Maybe somebody can enlighten me, if they can I would very much appreciate It. My area of interest is flathead ford v8's. I have owned one since I was 16. I still own the same car now aged 61. The other problem is it is a British 1950's V8, originally 221cubic inch, pretty much the same as a pre 38 american engine. I am now installing a French block flathead engine in it and I am having a hell of a game trying to get suppliers in the states to reply to my emails. I want some pistons which are essentially 8BA, but with a 4" stroke, and being able to rotate without hitting some 74cc Eddelbrock heads which I have already purchased, these have a 0.190" dome. The engine has standard 7" rods. The compression height of the pistons needs to be around 1.520". The bore needs to be ideally 3 5/16". If somebody can give me some information re suppliers, who will reply, preferably on the west coast, I would very much appreciate it. The engine will be tuned to produce around 150/160 HP, the limit???? for a standard transmission. Thanks in anticipation to anybody who reads this and takes the trouble to reply. Marcus
If you are on a smartphone, (I'm just guessing you are), the app has limited parameters. Look up and to the right, click on "..." You'll have the option to select "web view" This "reverts" the site back to how it would be on a desktop computer. You then can pick how and where to post better. It also lets you see prices in the classifieds, and a bunch of other stuff you can't on a phone. It's just clunky and difficult to navigate. But really, why not just post to general topics? It seems most everything ends up there. Don't worry, there's plenty of people that will give you a swift kick in the balls when you post something "off topic" so you will learn what's appropriate and what's not. Just don't take it personally. I would just read for awhile, chime in with comments before you start posting. A lot of new people are clearly just interested in posting their stuff and having people look at it, and not interested in actually "participating" in the forum, it's all about "them", this turns a lot of people off. I know I'm more likely to read a thread from someone who generally participates. Take my advise with a grain of salt, I'm a hack and a pariah.
It can be a big site, treat it like working on your old car, one bit at a time. I use my phone, and no app. Don't be in a rush, take your time and you will find it worth while. We also have social groups, where you can see more specialised subjects and members who can help you, although some groups are not real active, others are.
