I got this roached out yet buildable T body... My plan was a quick build, as traditional as I can make it.. yada ya. I have a model A chassis and a bunch of early ford parts saved/sourced for it. I had a 24 stud flathead, but I recently sold it back to my friend who sold it to me because it was an emergency situation and he needed a motor last minute for the race of gentleman

I decided to copy it out of fresh metal. I started with aluminum, but I got frustrated real quick once I made a nearly completed quarter and my bead roller turned into a shear. Lesson learned, I switched mediums and kept banging on metal. Building a whole car out of aluminum is possible for me I believe, but I didnt want more time to practice with it (gas welding/shaping/annealing/beading) before I hop into a build of this nature. So steel it is. Anyways, heres some pictures of where im at so far.

The upper part of the rear quarter needs some love.. well lots of it still, but Its all roughed out for now. I dont know when ill be back on it, but I wanted to post my progress so far. I want to order steel and build some subrails before I get too far.

Too cool! I keep kicking this idea around in my head. I love '27 T's, but I'm also too tall to fit in one comfortably, so making one from scratch makes more sense (to me) than hacking up an existing body to make it a little bigger. Great work, I'll be following this thread.

    WOW!

How did you go about making the top edge on the cab (not the cowl)?

My T Touring is arguably rougher than yours and I'm trying to decide if I want to just make new panels for some of it.

Cool - did you make adjustments to final measurements to add some extra comfort for the interior (leg room, seating room)?

Made some dies to do the cowl band. And ran a test piece and then did the real thing on my homemade Pullmax style machine. Still some tweaking to go on the cowl, dont judge haha

Nice work. I'm probably going to have to do the same as my '25 T body is pretty rough.
We have a pullmax at the shop, but I'm still very interested in your homemade version. Any info on that?

Having used the Pullmax at Rod's shop, I'd say my homemade version sucks and doesn't have the balls a real one does. I did build it for $800 and it shrinks like a mule though. And I make it work for my needs. If I were to do it again, I'd hunt and find a deal on a real nibbler, that might be hard out by you though. I wish I had a better height adjustment like a Pullmax. One day I'll re-engineer and rebuild.

    Got some more stuff done.

Most people are very let down. I have a one car garage and a basement. It's what you think but about 10x smaller

Great work. I love watching threads like this.

I do have a question though. I noticed you have the new work laying on top of the old work. Wouldn't that make the new work bigger? Bigger by the thickness of the material you are working with? If I'm right does that not matter?

    Thanks
