  2. AWB BoltR.jpg Pic of an Altered Wheelbase T-Bolt, from a Shelby Club magazine in 1983. The car was supposedly in Minnesota, and occasionally street driven. Looks to be neatly done.

The former Reynolds Ford Tbolt from Syracuse, NY originally owned/driven by Mike Gray. I believe Randy DeLisio purchased the car from the person showing it here. Len

  6. img007.jpg Here is one that ran at George Rays Wildcat Dragstrip in the 70s. It was owned by Glen Patrick and Bobby Burse who did the driving. I built them a Mustang and later a Pro Stock style Pinto to replace it . The story I was told is that the car was sold to a Thunderbolt Club, and the numbers showed it to be one of the very early ones built.
This is the same car on page 125,the former Brannan car. #1 Thunderbolt.

Per chance did Mike Ulrey run this same car in SS/D at the 1969 Indy Nationals? Perhaps he bought it from Staley? Len

I think Mike raced the 66 427 car at Indy in 69.

Some of these may have been posted and Lenny, Troublemaker and the regs on here may have seen these already. 934781_931275980238887_6401395255280494485_n.jpg 1466190_933439953355823_8311759891438485364_n.jpg 1512294_10202396840437100_8023502959687114709_n.jpg 1604870_10153020252143972_8744081693129054032_n.jpg

Here's a few photos that have not been posted before. They are of the #5 car that went to Les Ritchey. Last known was it went up to BC Canada, and raced by Rod Dooley & John Chilton. I have been in contact with Rod and a couple other owners after Rod owned the car. I have information documenting the car up to 1969. I spoke with Rod and he filled me in with all the details of how and when the car came to BC. Car was purchased directly from Ritchey (before he died) in late 1965 for $1200. Rod was friends with Gary Wanless and Bill Ireland. Bill Ireland picked up the car from California and transported it to Portland, Oregon for Rod. Rod picked the car up from Portland and brought it up to BC. The car came without an engine. It had fiberglass doors and early fiberglass front bumper. It was painted green with a gold hood, roof and trunk lid. Rod sold/traded the car in late 1966 for cash and a gold 64 Fairlane hardtop 289/4spd. Buyer unknown. During that time, an aluminum front bumper was installed and fiberglass doors replaced with steel doors. Also the rear wheel wells were modified. The unknown buyer didn't have the car long. It was purchased by RH in mid 1967 for $1700 and was owned until mid 1969 (see RH Collection photos). RH lost the car to the bank. GG purchased the car from the bank for $600. He didn't own it long and flipped it for a quick $1500. Buyer unknown. The car has not surfaced and is believed to be long gone. I'll have more information at a later date.

    Enjoy the photos. Big thanks to Rod Dooley and RH (PS - the photo with Rod/John, Rod is standing in front of the car) 5tbolt000WEB.jpg 5tbolt001WEB.jpg 5tbolt002WEB.jpg 5tbolt003WEB.jpg 5tbolt004WEB.jpg 5tbolt005WEB.jpg 5tbolt006WEB.jpg 5tbolt007WEB.jpg 5tbolt008WEB.jpg 5tbolt011WEB.jpg 5tbolt012WEB.jpg 5tbolt013WEB.jpg 5tbolt015WEB.jpg 5tbolt016WEB.jpg 5tbolt017WEB.jpg 5tbolt018WEB.jpg

Well Tom, if we read the Indy Nats Entry list you're right. It says number 734 was Ulrey's 66 Fairlane running in SS/D. This was the same Fairlane he ran in previous years. But, I'm having a hard time reconciling that info with this pic. Maybe somebody photo shopped it?

Hmmm?.....does seem odd. I am friends with Johns daughter Kelli Ulrey. I have been sending her some pics of John and Mike to pass along to her dad. He is not a computer guy I guess. If nothing else I will call him this week and see what he remembers.

Also, the Fenton Sharks on the front makes me think it's Mike.

#12 T-bolt - former Damerow Ford - Bill Ireland Thunderbolt. Bought by Gary Wanless and raced up in BC Canada. Car was altered and stretched. Gary later converted to a 68 Cougar funny car. Body was destroyed. 2 photos that have never been posted.

When I originally saw this color photo of the butchered Damerow Ford Thunderbolt, I thought it had been Photoshopped. Now that I see the b/w photo I know it is true. What a waste!

Back then, ...they were just old race cars.

"Whodathunk" of the value years later?

John, I've only ever seen a few of those pictures before. Very cool, never seen the butchered rear wheelwells on the Chilton and Dooley car, the rear wheels seem to have fit earlier (not sure how, maybe narrowed rear end?) I thought they ran it in Super Stock after buying the High Riser top end, guess not.

I wish the guy in California who said he had it and was looking for quarter panels would chime in.

according to the pictures, they ran B/G. D/XS and E/XS. Rod said they changed the weight to race in different class

    John,

Is it possible that the Ritchey tbolt was owned by a Gerald Moe in 1974 in Seattle, Washington?? This person had a tbolt for sale in 1974.

New attention from Detroit automakers was evident in low-production models built specifically for drag racing. Whereas earlier Super Stocks consisted of actual assembly-line vehicles fortified by high-performance V-8s, Ford upped the ante by dropping dual-quad, high-riser 427s into economy-segment Fairlanes wearing lightened bodies and serious rear suspension. By November, Butch Leal was secretly testing this ’64 Thunderbolt at Lions.
