This car had a piece of square tube welded to the front sub -frame and all we could imagine was that it had some really long frame connectors on it at some time. Looking at this photo you can see the the square just below the 427 emblem and what looks like a long bar going to the rear. Thanks for posting this pic KY. You just never know what kind of info you can glean from old photos.

Can anyone tell what the word is on the front fender near the headlight? Also, some kind of black mark? below that? Thanks Tommy.

Kinda looks like "Rotunda" on the fender. Which would almost make sense?

Stopped by tonight to check on the progress. Mark has done a ton of work but its mostly welding, patching ,grinding and smoothing all the little holes and "torch work" done to it over the years. Here is a shot of it on the rotisserie. Also a shot of the T-Bolt only "rocker opening".

Quick shot of the firewall and vent mods that some of the cars received. Also a shot of the factory rear with the traction bars and cheater slicks.

My guy says no. He was going to fix it until some of the other owners said that they had seen it before. Maybe Dennis K could tell us more about it. It was supposed to let more engine heat out.

    Thanks, Dennis.
I've seen pics of the Bridenthal Thunderbolt and others with the back edge of the hood shimmed up and read somewhere (maybe here?) that that made them a wee little bit quicker. I assume this was done for the same reason.

Thanks Dennis, I must have misunderstood Mark. Guess he is leaving it because that's the way it was raced?

Found these on this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/mckinstry-photo-collection.927529/page-3

If you haven't looked at it yet and if you like drag racing this thread is full of great shots.

First one is the precursor of the "T" bolts the early tasca experiments. I have seen a white one, a red one, around now but this one from back in the day is BLUE never saw a blue one before.

The next ones are sad ones a wrecked "T" bolt.

The red one is a clone of the 1962 Tasca Fairlane that had a 406. The white '63 Tasca clone is painted wrong. Someone did not do their homework when researching the Tasca cars to make a clone. The white clone should have been painted Peacock blue. There was a discussion on this site earlier starting with post #3469. The crashed Thunderbolt is also shown there.

get-attachment.jpg get-attachment.jpg Some updates on the Joe Brown Ford T-Bolt. The car was converted to a 4spd later on and is being returned to an automatic. I guess the correct bell housing is next to impossible to find so Mark mated a MEL starter pocket and re-indexed the bolt holes. Still has some finish work to do but it will work.

get-attachment.jpg Here is a horrible pic of the "Hullabulu" car with the same firewall mods as the Joe Brown car. I think this was #36? and Joe Brown was #39. This is what made us think that some cars came with this mod.

get-attachment.jpg Last item for tonight. The High Riser waiting patiently. The goal is to at least have the car at the reunion as a roller with some of the parts on display. It come back from paint this Friday and then the THRASH begins.
