I don't have any manuals new enough to find this. Have a 79-83 type trans (3 speed + 4th gear OD - aluminum case). We need to adapt another shift lever to the stub lever sticking up from the housing. There are 3 cap screws that appear to hold the stub lever in a triangular pattern. My question is....can the screws be removed and the stub assy be pulled straight out without any other special steps? Any spring loaded parts going to zoom out past my head?

No, no parts will come flying out. It is just the shifter going in to the shift rail

  3. Is that the one that will work with a 50-53 flathead?

This trans is bolted up to a 57 Ford with a 292 V8. I suspect it could be adapted to the late type flathead V8's but I don't have any hard info on adapters, clutch splines, release bearings, etc.
