Customs Ford 4 spd tranny rebuilding cost

Anyone have an idea about parts cost to rebuild a mid 70's Ford 4spd?, it is in my 50 Ford, in 4th gear it makes a lot of noise. Just curious

If it's a OD 4-speed, take a good look at the cluster gear shaft. These trannies were never all that quiet to start with, but when Ford converted them to OD, the load on the shaft was increased and they do tend to wear. That shaft won't come in a rebuild kit, you'll have to buy it separately. Ford also didn't recommend using OD below 50 mph or under high loads.

When I got the car it had a wooden looking shifter that had a 1,2,3, pattern then it said od for 4th, so maybe this is a 3sd with od. It makes a little bit of noise in 4th, so I should stay in third under 50?

 

Yes, stay out of OD under 50.
