Great results. Looks like you have the perfect tire and gear ratio figured out just below your shift point in the traps.

You have to mentally scale back your thinking but just imagine the work that every component of that little engine is doing to contribute to what we see out the windshield. I would have been impossible for anyone involved with the original design and build of the flathead to imagine what their "baby" would become capable of almost a century after it's birth.

  19. Being a flathead lover for 50 plus years,my senses tell me this engine must be a destroker or have some very light valves and flywheel to run up to 6,500- 7,000.What is the bore and stroke and what size valves and what cam are you running? Congrats on a very fine running flatmotor; nuf sed WELL DONE! Flatheadjohn47Texas 979-595-7324 cell.

    Ronnie...
    I ran a 4-1/4 stroker crank in a 59L block in '58. Bore was 3-3/8", (304 C.I.?)
I had a Potvin Eliminator cam, Evans heads, (no rollers in those days! No 'good' springs, either.)
Lincoln valve springs, Chrysler valves. Antique stuff. But I revved it just past 6K a number of times, (engine liked to get to 5800, but I was 'pushy')
No comparison to what you guys do now... Congrats! And, thank you for the nice ride.

  25. That's awesome, congrats on the record. Got any shots of the car so we can see what it looks like?
