I've looked at a lot of threads. I've talked to Jegs tech. Can someone give me a cam and part # so I can find manufacturer with the 097 grind. Thanks.

Crane cam's makes a copy of it. I live in Daytona and went out there and got it direct from them. They don't keep them in stock but will grind one to order. It's a damn nice cam in my 283 powered model A

Speed-pro also makes a Duntov replacement cam , the 30-30 and also the 12-18 which I think is the 097 your referring, they also have the old L-79 cam aswell

You used to be able to buy them at any Chev dealer for $35. Sorry don't know the GM part number.

Later... No. 3736097 . Google search took 2 seconds.

They're out still there NOS....I have a brand new, in the tube, GM cam.

  10. Comp Cams has one in their Nostalgic grind series. I believe it was the same as the Chevy Z28 off-road grind. They were a popular circle track grind since they came in at around 3300 rpms.

Mellings part no on 097 is C8P the 30 30 cam is C 10 P .. The part number for the solid lifters are J992 or the edge orfice or piddle is JX992. this is the improver unit. Most of the GM cams are made by nellings and packaged with GM boxes.. I hope this helps... Bobby..

  12. 3736097 is the GM part number. The casting number on the cam is 3736098.

  13. Sure wud like to know what dealer you're getting them from. Maybe dealers in Detroit still have stashes, but the dealers in my area were out of them in the '60s.

You've got to talk with the Corvette restoration parts supply houses. I bought mine a year or two ago, and they had multiple at that time.

I bought a NOS because while all the aftermarket cam companies' specs were similar, none of them were the same so it was impossible to know which cam was the exact copy of the 097. Plus, the NOS cost about the same as an aftermarket.

that's your best bet, IMO. The Crane is dead-on and unlike some of the other stuff I posted the quality is good.

    097
    227/230 .393/.400 110.5 LSA

    Z/28 off-road
    257/269 .493/.512 112 LSA

    30/30
    254 .485 112 LSA
Well, lemme see, 30 extra degrees of intake duration, I guess that's pretty close.

Fan of the 097-used two Elgin copies-one in my 57 Fuely BelAir and another in a 62 340 HP Corvette. Both ran very well and still are from what I hear.
