LB I got my indoctrination into hot rods and race cars the same way, I was 12 when I hung around Speed Garage in Elmhurst Queens.

Hearse vs "Growler"

 

The article says "34 Ford". Looks like a Chevy to me.

 

Dean it was a chevy, still is. Being restored by a father and son team in CT

New version which is not to my liking.

 

The new version isn't even a sedan delivery.

 

Well, the thought is there but not much personality. Looks to be more of a cruise in piece than a tribute for the track

That's a great shot of two of my favorite cars in action.

 

Guys the modern version is Dickie Doyle's street rod version , Billy Colman has the original and is restoring it to the way it looked in those pictures. It is all on the Doverdragstrip.com site put blown hearse in the search box.

The restored Super Snake was at the CHRR this weekend, saw Prudhomme there too.

 

Both hearses a little short in the coffin-carrying area.
