We use to do the same thing, no front brakes- so get some of your buddies to hang on to the car to keep it in the water as long as possible. Fun Times!

    Good grief!

do you still have this photo? Is is stamped on the back "E.T. Photo"?

If so.....I took that photo......more than 42 years ago! I used to take photos at Thompson and sell my photos.....I made 100 wallet size photos for Frank and his wife.....she drove it just like this as well....they were quite the drag racing couple!

Jim and Allison Lee's Great Expectations. Their grandson Tyler is currently running the latest iteration.

Jim Dunn, the early days. They had planned on taking this car to the US Nationals but the chassis had some issues and they put the motor in a dragster and started on the path to top fuel. The story on their trip to Indy is a classic with Henry (Velasco) using a chisel to cut down the piston domes in the pits at IRP

As Don Roberts can testify this car was destroyed in a huge accident at New England Dragway as seen here.

A few years back I had a part in re-creating it using the original components the Richie still had stashed away--fuel tank, butterfly, brake handle, rear wheels.

Thanks - very unusual Twin for that period of time. The Stevens family built a similar Twin with Hemi's, rear engine, one in front of the rear end and one behind, one was turbocharged.

I'd pay $$$ to see a video of that!
Even hearing the rest of the story second hand would be interesting.
Only a machinist would find that entertaining huh.

Sounds like the story of Burt Munro using aluminum rivets to close up holes he burnt in his pistons with nitro.
