The late Danny Roberts, long-time Blair's employee, drove this car...it was build after I left Blair's for the Navy, but remember it well on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine

The middle guy on the signboard is still at it....lot of weight on the front axle. Steve Plueger is also still at it, thanks to misgis for the reminder.

These guys were runners for decades...one of the cars you never forgot it you got to see it run...blown or unblown, the exhaust note was unique....

Dean--and anyone else that may know.
I'm a few years too young to know about this car during it's heyday, curious if you know the story on it, was this a Logghe "shop car ".
After I submitted my previous post about being ahead of it's time, and looking at that picture; it made me wonder if it had been photoshopped (I don't think so).
As cool as the car is, the enclosed canopy just seems to have a "modern" look about it.
Any thoughts or knowledge about it's history.

Denny, It was ahead of its time (though Weekly and Rivero had a similar M/R with an enclosed cockpit)...Bergler was a master tinsmith who did build bodies for some of the Logghe cars, but don't know if this was a "shop" car or not...here are another couple of photos of Bergler's "More Aggravation" from Don Ewald's site:

  20. Like the rear engine dragster that Garlits did not invent, Don Schumacher did not invent the enclosed canopy.

I believe Al Bergler did tin work for Logghe in exchange for chassis from them.

That engine looks like a 'modern day flathead'. Back in the day I couldn't keep a crank in one very long, unblown on gas w/ 8 1/2 to 9 CR. Should have used a torque wrench I guess.
