Garlits moved to Troy Michigan for a few years when he got a deal to run the 426 hemi. His shop was just a couple miles from where I lived. Went by his shop all the time. They didn't like the winters, and moved back to Florida.

I wonder what would happen if the N.H.R.A. announced that they were forming a New drag racing division that would run there own separate events and all of the drag cars had to be just like they were in the 60's and 70's with no electronics of any kind and period correct looking cars?

    Just my opinion. Jimbo

Sorry I forgot to add one more very important thing and that it it would include Modified Production and Junior Stock classes.

I would love to see the old classes of Jr. Stockers come back. The nostalgia events that I go to bring the people in

One of the mandates is they have to smoke the tires just the way they did, that would be the best thing to have happen as the show now is a joke

    Hi Mikey

Those early Smokers meets where ' Priceless ' as you had cars from all over the country in the middle of winter

It could not have been any better, with wall to wall fuelers boiling the hides

If they could bring those cars back today they would pack the stands, as all of my friends that I raced with talk about how great it was in the 60's and it is really bad now

I'am sure one of the tire company's could turn out some harder tires you could lite up , like the good old M & H 10.00 by 16's Racemasters that we all used. Mine came off of Ivo's car as after 5 runs he would sell they to guys like me

  8. I have an old Jr Fuel dragster. I'm hoping to have it put back together by August.... I really don't care what it runs. I just wanna smoke em for as far as I can.
