Would like more pics of this car. I am liking the straight back and would like more info on its construction, etc...... And the straight frame rails.. From Hemmings Daily online: "This car was built in 1974 by Don Lowe owned by Gary Vahling" Thanks for any help, cb1
I only have two more on my computer, but it was in Rodder's Digest around 2005 or so, and I'll scan and copy that in the next few days when I can get back into my office. There were many pictures of it in rod run coverage back in the late seventies and eighties in Street Rodder and Rod Action.
As we speak, Donn is building another one--a little different, but still really cool. As for the old one--I don`t have any pics, but someone has to have...
I have no photos but the car was sold by Gary Vahling to Robert StSavier who sold it to Sam Benton. Sam listed it on Ebay as due to his age ,the car beats him up. It was sold to Europe somewhere Hi to Donn
I saw this one at Vintiques in Yakima a few years ago that appears to have had a lot of influence from that one.
Here is one built by Richie Willet from Malden Massachusetts back in the 1970's Narrowed 27T body with 2000cc Pinto engine.Sorry for the lousy pic. The story behind this pic was the guy who got in it couldn't get out and we had to take the steering wheel off for him to exit the car. When you weigh 270 lbs and are over 6ft tall you don't try on a speedster.
Hello, Just last Friday, we saw a roadster (just like one of the above) turning off of Coast Highway in Corona Del Mar, near the Bandera Restaurant in So Cal. It sounded cool as I rolled down my window and he turned right in front of us, going inland. The build looked quite nice, too. Sorry, he was too fast for my camera. Jnaki
Seems as though I've read some place that he runs at Bonneville.....maybe someone will chime in with more info.
I bought this car from Gary back in '79, and drove it for several years. It even served as a trophy car at Lakeside Speedway. I have several rolls of film on this car, but I'll have to find them. Several years after I sold the car, Gary told me that the car surfaced in California, and was having it ship back to Colorado. The last time I saw the car was about 18 months ago. It was at Sam's Vintage Ford in Denver. Sam had if for sale and had no U.S. interest and was shipped to Germany. Will post pictures.
