Feels like family picture day, you know when mom keeps yelling at you to smile.....
Long night ahead and the chips are flyin' everywhere. Getting to be crunch time on my end.

Lots of material to remove and a bit of reshaping ahead.

Busy weekend trying to finish up some work on the Quick N Dirty Hemi. Bear with me, not sure how to properly link the videos so you will have to click on the links to view the videos. So, I had to figure a way to get the stacks cut to length the way I wanted. The OD of the stack is about .004-.005 bigger than the slug of aluminum. It's a slip fit to the ID for support when clamping it using a 3 jaw on a lathe. The plan is was to measure from the bellmouth back and trim to my desired length using a cutoff/parting tool.

Once I got it in a lathe I found a way to help hold the stack on the other end and cut them to length at a very slow RPM.

All said and done this is all of the stack we are using lol.

When I machined the clamps I wanted a press fit. Hoping we don't have to tack weld them in place but we will see. I put the stacks in my deep freeze over night. The clamps got deburred and put in my oven to heat up to about 350°F. You basically have one shot at this with the press fit I set this up for......but they slid right over and locked into place within a few seconds.

With the stacks taken care of I was back to porting the Enderle. After opening up the casting (see previous pics post #3128) to the new bore size and transitioning it through the casting I got to the point where I needed to check the port match.

In the pic you can see how the port roof and floor doesn't line up well. I opted to slot the bolt holes to get that back in line again. Hard to believe how well the car ran before with this misalignment. Just more refining to make better for this year! Anyhow, after lots of grinding and hand blending we have this.

Me being me I wanted to see what the Enderle looked like all mocked up so I tossed it up on my mockup Hemi.

Next up is to clean up the castings so I blasted them to look new again.

Back at it in a few days and get everything shipped off to Tony.

  24. Your making it all look easy Nick. Quick & Dirty is becoming my new all time favorite Hemi powered Gasser. Tony and you, are also two of the nicest people I've met in recent years. I'm looking forward to seeing that ole beast do some A/Gas damage in 2017.

    Mine too.
Not sure what I'm looking more forward to, that "blessed" hemi or the new paint.
    Go Tony!

  26. Man this was a BIG job! When we started, it seemed like it would be a quick port n polish  really appreciate you sticking with it.

Thanks Ric, luckily I've been mentored by the best - Gene Adams! He has been molding me into what I am today over the past 7 years with these Hemis.

Thanks for letting me steer this build into a new direction. Takes major dedication financially, time, and good ole fashioned hard work on both of our ends. I haven't been this dedicated on a project of this caliber since I last competed in Engine Masters. Hoping we can be a major contender this year and ultimately I want a win just as bad as you!
