History Dealer Giveaways... Pontiac Rules.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jive-Bomber, Nov 3, 2009.

  1. Sorry, but this thread was started as nostalgic. The demise of Pontiac was rueful, they did offer a couple of nice cars. Do you know why Kia and Hyundai stay? They have a government that helps them every way they can and is protective of their home market. The only thing a Chinese Pontiac would do is the same thing Toyota and Honda did in the 70's and 80's, take market share by importing a product priced to undercut, not to make a profit. And all the while China will not fully open their market to mirror ours. Foreign importers are not any smarter than us, actually to the contrary. It is just they get the benefit of America trying to be the open-playing field country, not matter how unfair the imported products are. So as you buy your Chinese Pontiac, we loose jobs.
OOPPSS! The soapbox is getting wobbly, I need to get off. Good thing, I was going to lay into unions next.....

    It's not a pedal car!
It is electric powered, and yes they are rare.

Dealers used them to attract customers into the showroom. Often by offering a free test drive to the kids who would drag mom and dad in with them. The entry form for the drawing on the car would give the salesmen lots of contacts

  8. Very cool stuff! About ten years ago, my mother (a thrift store junkie) found me a "Plymouth Drag Race Game" for eighty five cents... I kept it for quite a while until I found a guy that collected "dealership" stuff and sold it to him. He paid me a good bit more than eighty five cents...

Sorry, this post struck a nerve with me and I can't let it just fade away ( like the General is doing to Pontiac )!

I know there are so many more cool dealer giveaway and collectible items to see. We haven't even scratched the surface.

Here's a couple to start; a paper plate from a new car showing that you may have received a donut or hot dog on, and an ice scraper from the same year.

And jivebomber, Pontiac does Rule !!
