  1. Doug, you got me thinking about the last time I was at Stoudt's, and I can't believe it was seven years ago. Here's a few shots from that day. They had a small show going on at the time. I was a bit enamored with the baby blue, fuel injected, '61. There was a fawn/fawn '61 like the one Jim missed out on due to his dad, too. It was all original, but still awesome.

Stoudt's is a used car lot, in business to make money. But I think they have a genuine interest in Corvettes. I remember a '72 LT1 with air in Sunflower yellow, tan leather. Very rare color with a rare option package

Bowtie, nice pics but that fawn beige 61 is a lot nicer than the one I looked at but the one I looked at was $600 I believe (back in 68 in the shape it was in was all the money). I figured my dad may have allowed that one since it had virtually no real performance sound, but no such luck. I still associate fawn beige 61s though with that car lot derelict I looked at. Like the jewel blue fuelie. I had a neighbor that had a 283/270 jewel blue 61.

  6. Thanks for coming up with the name of that blue. I had a brain cramp and cudn't think of it to save me. Geez, I was going to ask about the rarity of that color, but I don't know now. I believe I've only seen three that color, including the one at Stoudt's.

Baron if I remember correctly you were contemplating painting your project in that color. Was a rare color but I have run into several examples over the years. Seeing the jewel blue fuelie (315 HP) car posted by Bowtie Coupe reminds me that they can be put to better use than pure stock. Here is a picture of Rapid Rabbit (originally owned by a gentleman named Hare) but owned at the time of this picture by Paul Albert. The car ran in AA/SP early on and also in B/SP and I believe had class wins in both classes. If you look on the hardtop you will see he was proud of his national record. Bert Brown who owns the 61 fuelie that was the Grassman/Nicholson/Wade entry at Pomona in 62, said that the Rapid Rabbit car had a 315 fuelie. The engine was rebuilt when Albert owned the car by Roger Sinistri from New Jersey. Another famous 61 (283/270 in 1968 and 315 fuelie in 1969) Vette with the Sinistri touch was Larry Lombardo's class winner record holder, Buckshot (which is still around). I have read that Rapid Rabbit burned to the ground-sad if true.

56/150 really like the black 62. Appears to be in Mt Clemens. There are several black 62s in this neck of the woods. Nice.

Jim. Jewel Blue is the color I decided on. Here is a shot from last May of the rear convertible top cover jammed out
(once I welded the roll bar in, it no longer accessible). Have two gallons of lacquer ready to go as soon as I get it up and running, make sure all is well, than take it partially back apart to paint it( hood, doors, trunk ,bumpers etc...you know the drill). Not sure if it will see paint this year or not. Hoping I'll have the time to paint it.
That Black 62 with the black steel wheels looks killer.

Pat, hopefully I will run into 56 150-his car really has the look. In spite of us both living in what seems to be the same area there are so many shows here when the weather is good that it is hard to hit all of the shows. I thought I knew of most of the black 62s in the area but this one is new to me. I have not traveled over to Mt Clemens for their shows but who knows I may in the future. My problem is that when the weather is nice here I also like to work on cars so I end up trying to get some work done. I like working on them as much if not more than driving them (not the maintenance end but fabrication).

Hey Baron thanks. I sold the Vette awhile ago. I put it back to stock somewhat when I did. Damn I miss that car. I did a frame off myself and painted it lacquer myself. It was originally a 250hp powerglide two top car. It was rough when I bought it, it was smashed painted blue. I did a full Ncrs resto than got tired of that crowd and had some real fun. I pure stock drag raced it. It was built to stock 340 hp AFB then I later put a fuelie on it. When I sold it I put the powerglide and 3:36 open back in. Those pics were taken in downtown Mt Clemens. I had the 4" lift blocks up front. Looked real tough too. It was in 340hp trim there. I love the jewel blue fuelie pics.

Love the black one also. Black with black steelie wheels & blackwalls really flashes me back to the summer of '65...

56' 150 that is a very mean looking 62. What kind of shifter were you running in it and was that a 4 speed transmission. Also post some more pictures. I would like to see what it looked like when you got it. How did it do racing in pure stock ?

Hi Jason. Looks like a Hurst with the Loc/out kit. I'd like to put one of these to my car if I can find one reasonable.

Wish I had an answer for you, but that was a picture of one I found on the internet. And today these kits are selling for over $200.00 on eBay. I have a 1/2 dozen old Hurst Shifters kicking around the shop. I'll look and see if any of them have the loc/out. If I find out, I'll let you know.
