You need to come to Bowling Green in June and hang out with us. We will be camping next door to the drag strip. We get there on Wed and leave on Sun.
Me in the '57 a couple weeks ago in Holt, Florida...75 degrees & lots of sunshine! Oh, and 40 other Gassers!

Look at the Corvette in the background of this picture from the Nationals at Indianapolis. Any ideas who it might be Jim?
Jason the black 62 is one I am not familiar with. Hot stuff apparently as he appears to be running some cheater slicks. I am wondering if the sponsorship is Mr Bardahl. I see they slapped a sticker on the Willys. I do not believe I have a picture of a similar 62 but my computer is down and has been down since the ridiculous wind storm came through the other day (and absolutely destroying my two portable garages holding some of my junk I can't seem to stuff in my barn)-had the rear section of a body sitting on a Corvette frame and a cowl section set on and clamped and the wind blew both the body and cowl off the frame after sending the portable garage base and all across the yard. Spent the morning straightening the metal structure of the one. Recovered the other as the cover was shredded-fun stuff for sure. As an aside the car behind the Willys I believe is Wally Knoch's Fiat which he still owns (I believe that is the EP lube scoop he still has on the car). We bump into each other on occasion as we both drive black 62 Vettes (although he has owned his since new).

Here's a cool shot for you guys. Me & my friend & neighbor in Holt, Florida a few weeks ago. I just put a straight axle under his '58 this winter....& he used the weight loss (and a .01 light) to beat me pretty soundly...oh, and a blower too! LOLOL!
He is a great dude and I like his Vette also. I didn't know he was your neighbor. Now I have yet another reason to come visit.
I have some other pics of that car Loudbang but it is really representative of the era. The picture has an Aug 1968 date but it appears to be an old MSP holdover that probably got dumped into gas after the demise of MSP in late 67. Has the old stance with a three point bar and a stack injected 302. They of course moved up to the new slicks. You can't get much better than this with an old Vette competing in 68. Many of the Vettes were changing from the upstance to a more logical stance with the new rubber. Another car I could only wish to find just as it sits. Cool pic for sure.

Loud Bang, there are definitely nicer cars out there but that corvette roadster smoking the hides makes me think of when a Corvette was a race car and not too valuable to get down to business.
I have an original 1962 corvette C M/P restored drag car. I am thinking of making it a gasser. I have fun with M/P car but I think I am ready for a change. Make it nostalgic and call it the GAS CHAMBER. I hope that name has not been used yet. I dig the gassers.
J & D Corvette Snowjob must have one hell of an engine setback look where the moon tanks is Unknown posted by swi66 in the vintage thread
That's Ron Rudnick's altered corvette. Car was totally destroyed after getting completely airborne and nearly killing him.
Loudbang the Snow Job Corvette appears to have a 25% setback. Years ago at Milan I saw an early Vette with a 25% setback and I was amazed at how far back it was. Both altered and Modified sports allowed 25%. The Vette I saw at Milan interested me and I remember he tried to make a decent pass but no such luck. Every attempt he was all over the track. I never saw the car again. I see the car above has a flip front end. I wonder whether this car you posted was a street car as I cannot see any rollbar. The stance is pretty wicked to say the least. Els I believe your MP car is pretty cool. If Modified Corvettes were not so off topic in early 70s trim I would think we would see more attention to them. When gas was dying somewhat in the late 60s I transferred a decent part of my attention to the modified production cars. No upstance but they sure were fun to watch. Not all of the antics of ill handling like the mid 60s gassers but they sure were fun to watch and listen to with the high RPMs. Plus they had four speeds and Doug Nash 5-speeds and watching them in the first 660 ft was a real treat.
jimdillon. I have all the parts to make a gasser. You are getting the wheels turning in my head, I thing it would be fun to drive. GOOD CALL.
