Cool Yard Art?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RetroSteel, May 3, 2009.

  1. Does anybody here have some cool looking yard art or pics of other peoples yard art? eg> old car, truck or tractor used as part of a display in their yard.
Kicking around the idea, but lets see whats out there!

A friend of mine has a rusty ole 50 chevy pickup sitting on blocks under a willow tree in the corner of his yard.
It looks pretty neat sitting there being that his place is mowed trimmed and well kept.

  6. This thread comes up a couple of times a year,,,I'm sure everybody has seen mine too many times and by now probably tired of seeing it. HRP

  7. I posted this on the "Shortened Cars" thread. Ratster posted the pic.

That is Steve Heller's place. I stumbled upon that place going to Cooperstown, New York on the way to the Baseball Hall of Fame. It's near the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York, I believe on state highway 28. We decided to take the scenic back way and zoomed right past it. Needless to say we HAD to turn around.

This guy is, in the truest since of the word, a craftsman. He harvests his own wood for the fine wood sculptures he creates. He integrates wood and metal into many of his pieces.

    The "yard art" is amazing.

I don't know him personally, I just met him once. I asked him how did he come up with these creations, He told me he was hauling off a lot of "junk" from his father's estate and looked in the rear view mirror and saw possiblities. It never made it to the dump.

    A truly neat place.

I could only afford a post card.

I have this mess propped up out in my back yard, about 150 feet off the road. When I first put it up,I could hear guys slamming on the brakes and backing up...

Jay, that is really sharp! Looks like a time capsule from the 30's.

I'm working on it now, a 26/27 touring front half, with an earlier hood and grill shell. It'll be planted in the corner of my yard infront of split rail fence along with some yucca and tall grass. Before anyone gets upset, the sheetmetal is really beyond any other use.

I don't remember where I found this picture, but I've thought about replicating it, roadster style...
