I aways thought it was kind of interesting that the 18436572 and Fords 15426378 firing orders are actually the same, just numbered differently. That is, if you brought Fords number 5 cylinder TDC on compression and wired it like a GM/Chrysler it would be right. Or for you Ford guys, vice versa.

It's showing the 401-425 Nailhead distributors in the front, wrong! The 300’s were up front but not considered a true nailhead.

This showed up a while back and the same mistakes were recognized.
It was suggested that some companies may 'make mistakes' to identify thier own work for copyright reasons.

Who knows.. Get a specific manual and you might be better off.

I don't have easy access to my books right now, but as I recall, the nailhead #1 cylinder is the front one on the passenger's side, isn't it?

Nailheads all(264-322-364-401-425) have the same firing order-12784563 but #1 is on the right bank and as stated the dist is in the rear.

  14. Damn, there's only 4 cylinders on a VW aircooled engine, and while they got the firing order right (1-4-3-2), they blew it with the #1 and #2 cylinder....#1 is closest to the front, right across from #3

    Front of car

    #3 #1
    #4 #2

..at least the couple hundred I've worked on, or owned...

  15. Thanks for posting
If the info was correct it makes for a handy tool/ shop poster.
