I guess you could call me a cynical old fart (68 yrs) but I have compiled a list of phrases and terms I frequently see while cruising through classified ads on the net. Most of them I have figured out; some not so sure.

Easy winter project: That means it needs a ton of work and the seller doesn't want to mess with it.
It's a classic: Describes any vehicle built prior to 1986
    Patina:Rust
Great patina: More rust than usual
Rust in the usual places: That mean all of these particular models have rust here.
Ready for restoration: I haven't figure this one out. It appears there must be some restoration work required before the car is ready for restoration.
    All original with upgrades: What?
Stall converter: This one has me confused also. Every torque converter I have owned had a stall speed.
    Stahl converter: Good grief!
350/350 upgrade: Quite often more of an insult to the poor old car than an upgrade.
SS delete: I actually saw this description not too long ago.
Ran when pulled: That means if they pulled it it would start.

One more thing. If you are going to post a photo please do not put your finger over the license plate. I do not want to look at your stinking finger on my monitor.

So there you go. Take your shots. Just had to share it with someone.

How about "CLONE". People advertise a car as a clone.
    Why buy a fake car?

It's not so much the same old (wrong) phrases being used for me, as it is the terrible spelling & the words they keep using that are completely wrong. examples:
12 bolt posse (I guess if a bunch of fish is a school, a dozen bolts is a posse?)
crome bumbers (guessing this is chrome bumpers?) I've never bumbed into anything.
    Doesn't anyone use spellcheck?

Funny. Out here it is a 12 volt posi. Then there is the old Crowler Cam and the Elderbrock intake.

I hate when people spell it "Camero", especially if it's their own car they are trying to sell. The freaking name is right on the car!!

Thanks for bringing that up. That is another term that drives me nuts. Do you really think the original car would appreciate your hashed up imitation?

  21. I think that means it's for sale for way too much.

  22. 95% of the work done for you = I have messed this car/motorcycle up past the point of no return and I have no idea how to put it back together, or else I would do the last 5% myself and charge X2.

"No title, but they are easy to get"

If they are easy to get why don't you get one?

  25. How about "good breaks" (Something broken can't be good!)

  26. "The hard work is done"...................Well, if the hard work is done why don't you just go ahead and finish up the easy stuff!!

  28. I would love to call one of those ads, ask a bunch of questions and tie up the seller for 1/2 hour, tell them it's my dream car and that I'm an investment banker and right as he was about to discuss the price, say "I gotta go." "Click."

I was helping my daughter's boyfriend find a car he could buy with his $1000 tax refund, now that is a challenge. If you want to hear every clever way to describe a pos just search Craigslist for cars $1000 or less. Love it, mechanic special, only needs a transmission, yeah it needs a $3500 tranny in a $600 car. Another, "not running, no idea why but should be an easy fix". How would they know it would be easy? I was shocked how many people think they can sell someone a car that is nothing more then junkyard fodder.
My all time favorite is as above "ran when parked". Ummm, all cars ran till they were parked were they not?
