Just scored Buick wire wheels at a swap meet in Fergus , Ontario. The width of the wheels are 6.5". Will this detract from the look of my fenderless 28 Ford sedan? The wheels are painted, but the chrome looks good underneath. How do I go about removing the paint without damaging the chrome? Thanks.

  2. You can put a fairly nao rrow tire on a 6.5 rim and a fairly wide tire on the same, just be sure you put the little tire in the front.:D

Try wiping them with MEK, or laquer thinner to get the paint off.

Are you sure they are not 5.5" wide. Thats what all the repops are and they are supposed to be exact duplicates. They should be 5x5 bolt patternas well.

The wires from 53 were 6.5. From 54 and 55 they are 6.0. The repos are 6.0.

I wonder what porknbearner's post count was way back then?

  9. 10 years ago? I guess probably a few thousand. I was still pretty sick back then and didn't get out much. ;)
