I DO *some* day by day, now that she's HOME :)

but the wirings gonna be a BIG issue! it's a tangled MESS  *some* of it all the way back to 1955 -- I'm contemplatin -- what I'd LIKEta do -- is take it ALL out and have it done from the git-go by a specialist -- got one in mind -- to *that* end, all the lights and accessories I'm replacin & installin are NOT bein hooked up -- just installed -- right now Beulah's kinda a faux car -- LOOKS purty -- RUNS good -- but I can't trust her to take her out On The Road -- time will tell

toDAY, on the 163 SB under the Washington bridge -- Only 2 places in San Diego *more* dangerous then this and *one* is the NB JNO side right HERE as well
[ where the paramedic was killed a few years back -- I *was* there frown emoticon but too late to save him frown emoticon saddens me every time I think of it frown emoticon ] and the other is where my Beulah was destroyed in 2011 tongue emoticon [ the NB I-5 transistion TO NB 163 downtown ]

I was at this incident for 25 minutes before the CHP could get there because of the traffic generated -- hadta move the Merc back into the shade of the overpass & put Shela's bandanna wet around her neck with ice cubes to keep her cool -- when the CHP arrived, we crossed the Coronado Bridge where I stopped at the CHP office there and hosed Shela and toweled her to keep her comfortable -- it was HOT & humid today :p

I have no earthly idea *why* this vid generated SO much interest -- more then 5 THOUSAND views :O all I did was turn around and go back and clear as much of the mess of nails as I could -- *I* lucked out -- not ONE managed to find it's way into *my* tires --

:( you don't know the half of it Buddy -- but you hit the nail RIGHT on it's head! ;) It's a nightmare! *just* got *most* of the brake lights workin a coupla days ago [ headache! ]

LIKEta have a specialist COMPLETELY REwire her from the battery on -- I always knew this was gonna be a major issue :( can't take her out to "play on the freeway' till it's resolved, tested, and trustworthy --

ACtually -- TWO "situations" today -- one w the Merc, eariler, depicted above in the vids ANNND Beulah's FIRST since she was KIA in 2011 --

I was returning with her from Ed Hanson's muffler shop in Spring Valley where she'd been gittin a complete new dual exhust system built by Kevin -- just PERfect!

passed by a beautifull 66-7 Chev ragtop beside the 94 EB and went off @ sweetwater to hang a Ue & return --

just as I pulled off behind the Chevy anuther car pulled up behind me on the RS as well -- fella got outta that car w a gas can in his hand - onea them CRAPPY CaliFORKYA gas cans w the stupid, useless "no spill" spout! tongue emoticon tongue emoticon

Well, I stuck around -- chevy's gas tank filler is behind the licence plate in the bumper gasp emoticon ever *try* to use onea them STINKIN POS cans to put gas in a car like that?

Beulah's funnel she carries DID the job for em smile emoticon *then* we hadta prime the carb 3 times as well to git the Chev UP & runnin as it was on an angle on the shoulder.

    GOT IT DONE!

    Beulah's FIRST in 4 YEARS!

    smile emoticon

Nice to know that Ed Hanson's is still hanging pipes. He did two of my cars many years ago and did great work.

gut feeling, intuation, what ever it was that caused me to BE at the El Cajon Wednesday nite car show this week -- I knew I HAD to BE there WITH Beulah AND Shela!

It was a "Salute to Police, Fire and Rescue vehicles" nite

I wasn't allowed to park *IN* the reserved show area because if you're IN that area, you can't leave untill 8pm and last year's show, *this* happened -- and apparently someone complained [ probably the oblivious woman who objected to being asked to move out of the way so I could leave :p ] So I said "no worries" and found a good spot out on the Main St where I set up my umbrella to keep Shela comfortable in Beulah as the RF window won't go down yet [ electrical issues ] beCAUSE of *where* we were, I met numerous folks I've helped over the years and TWO *retired* CHP officers whom I'd worked with MANY times out On The Road at incidents and breakdowns -- We swapped stories and enjoyed the show. Probably wouldn't have encountered em otherwise --

ONE of the officers is *now* an appraiser of old cars -- and in our conversation, I'd asked him if he knew of a wiring specalist who might have some expertise in the field of "ripping everything out" and making NEW starting at the battery!

He gave me his recommendation -- I met the man toDAY! in 6 weeks time [ he has 2 complete rewires he's gotta do first --- prior commitments ] he's gonna rip out all the "spaghetti" and make Beulah a "WORKIN GIRL" agin!

He figures 2 weeks to complete, once he gits her -- I figure he's crazy and told him so ;) :) BUT -- I'm a HAPPY Highwayman!

then, this afternoon, I arrive home at the "ranch" from a day's "Playin on the Freeway" and find this --

Now I gotta go wash my face :)

MORE progress! :) REinspired! now that Beulah's future is brighter! CHP officer's wirin expert recommendation is a legend in the old car business! I'm HONORED that he's willin and able to take on my Beulah's "snake's nest" and make her RESCUE ready agin for me!

She HAS to be perfect, wirin wise, afore I kin USE her to help others -- seems like MANY drivers don't KNOW what a turn signal-lane change indicator IS! [ never use em ] But *I* can not risk mine not workin [ they're not :( ] because I *NEED* em to be able to manuver safely into and outof "situations" [ I *tried* to fix em but couldn't fathom the problem mself :( "ITOFTS" ]

Sooooo -- I'm installin ALL the NEW lights & equipment I need w-out havin to go bananas w wirin & th expert will make em work -- I DID "patch" the wires to the NEW front PA speaker so that I kin "talk" to folks if necessary tween now and when she's fully enabled [ coupla months ]

  28. Haven't seen another one of these great, old, custom-made, wood work benches
in some time. Looks like it has been well loved - (I have a similar one).
Keep up the good work that you do, but, "Let's be careful out there."

the one w the covered windows is a 56 Ford Country Sedan w a 55 front clip [ the reverse of Beulah -- from the front it's a 55 -- from the side it's a 56 - and from the back it's a Mercury -- :) ] -- was my son's that he learned to drive with, utilized thru his callow youth, helped others with as I do -- *now* he's married w 4 kids and has no space *for* it where they live -- it's VERY worn out -- so it's "retired" here and has been a valueable source of hard to find spares for Beulah --
