I agree the wheel and tire combo make it! You just need a mailbox scoop to make it perfect. Looking really good!

    No kidding!
It went from lazy to crazy in the blink of an eye!
Please PLEASE put an engine in this thing that is WAY beyond the average 300 and somethin' horsepower...!!!
This nasty bastard deserves an equally nasty engine!:)
Extremely nice job transforming this one.You guys are making all the right moves, and if it continues to improve at the rate it has so far, this rig is gonna make people's heads explode.

Thanks, Everything will be purpose built on this car. Form will follow Function.

This is one of the funner builds I have worked on for a while. Building "old" cars for a living isn't always what it seams. It's very meat, potatoes and peas and every once in a while you get cheese cake for dessert. Meaning most of the time you are fixing the cars; rust, bad work done previously, troubleshooting etc. Then when you get through that, you have a solid foundation and the fun starts, chops, channels, custom shit.

The great things about this project is, the car is pretty solid and we got rid of most of the bad and replaced it with something cool. So it has been fun stuff for the most part, and the direction dictates its self. Mean, fast, safe, well engineered, timeless, purpose built hot rod.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and thanks Steve for bringing us this car. :D

Where ya gonna drive that thing? Is there much of a Hot rod scene in Earth?

  21. Zero car scene in Earth, I'll end up cruising it to Lubbock, Plainview or Amarillo.

Tried out some wheel well edges the other day. Here is a brief process.

Made a paper template by laying out the radius on some paper and cutting it out. The i used magnets to hold it on the car to see if it is awesome or not.

Used my handy radius maker that i used to make template on paper. basically i have this piece of 1/2 plate i use for welding. I drilled a pilot hole as a pivot point. Then took a piece of scrap and measured my radius which was 15.5" made pivot hole and marker hole, I also made a hole for the inside flange material which is 3/4" Then I made another hole which is the extra 3" of material.. Got it? No? Here's a picture

You can use this method to make circles, pizza slices, pie charts, overhead pictures of pie, 2d drawings of planets... etc

Then I ran this through our Lazze Bead roller using the dies setup for "tipping" which after a few passes made a 90" flange. It's a 2 hand job and we are a busy shop so no pictures of that but here is the flange.

Then I used out pull max and this die that Jesse Miller and I made out of aluminum. Normally with this die holder you would use Delrin, but we had aluminum... Now there are a few things I would have done different making this die which I am not going to geek out on now.. but it worked great.

    Now lets check her out.

Needs some tuning up but its bitchen:D I am making it in a few pieces because the lowers have to roll in to match the conture of the quarter..

Sorry for the slow posting, I have to transfer pics from my phone to a PC then resize and post so I will get to this when I can, as often as I can.
