Alright folks, lets see some Aussie bodies. No I'm not talking about the kind you see at Bondi beach on a sunny day, I'm talking about Australian (or Canadian, south American etc.) variations on U.S. body styles, eg. Utes, Slopers, even standard models such as roadsters and coupes produced outside of the U.S. where sometimes vastly different from the models they were based on. here are some to get you started. some taken by me and some stolen off the net. so that's a start guys and girls, lets see what you got. and ps. lets please keep this on topic ie variations on U.S. body styles only (not Holdens and Valiants or pommy stuff) and stock or traditionally styled rods and customs.
BTW, that 1st pic of the cream coloured 34 Ute is the one that the original car 's designer Lew Brandt built as a restored car in the 1970's from a sedan....note the vertical rear roof line and compare it to pic # 7 the gold & brown 34 Ute which has the sloping rear roofline.....not being picky but that Lew Brandt car gets used as the correct "Ute" when its not........have attached a couple of pics of the 1939 Plymouth Raodster Ute I had the remains of and also the Oz 1940 Dodge Coupe I owned yrs ago, these were actually made from a sedan and used the 4dr sedan front door...also note the differences in my Oz built 1940 Dodge Sedan, it uses a Plymouth body and Dodge grille etc.......andyd
Great start guys. Keep em coming. Might also be interesting to point out the differences between the aussie and u.s. bodies as andyd has done sent via classroom note. pass it on
Good call fuzzybear. My old 35 Master Deluxe roadster a body style I believe was not released in the USA, was Holden bodied rather than Fisher, had suicide doors a feature that was dropped in 36 both here and the US. Being a roadster it had no roll up side windows, it did come with a rumble seat and the chassis was the same or very similar as the US version of Master Deluxe (knee action suspension). There will be some out there with more info on these but from what I remember only about 200 of these were made. That pic was about 1985, it had a Tri power 283/powerglide setup, Holden front suspension. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
