First off.... Nothing against air suspension but on my 51 I'm running an all stock suspension and running gear and wanting to see some superlow cars on stock stuff. Pics and descriptions appreciated. Working on my notch as we speak and just need some inspiration . And by " low" I'm mean grapevine low. Let's keep this tread traditional.... No M2 or frame swaps.

Badass. Have any more pictures? What did you do to the suspension? Any sheetmetal work to the tunnel?

    That's low! Looks great.

How about a description on your suspension. Drop spindles? Springs? How close to the ground is the lowest part of the car?

Here's mine that's all stock sus too. Coil and a half cut out of the front springs and 3 inch lowering blocks out back. Would love to get a little lower as well.

I'm currently doing a very mild notch and then some tunnel work. I'm using a rod and custom issue for reference on the rear. Jimmy at circle city did a 49 this way. You can search google search"rod and custom 49 Chevy c- notch" and that's how I'm doing the sheet metal work. It is a very cool tech article.

I just have drop blocks in the rear. I don't think I'd cut this one up since I like keeping most of the originality of the car. I have a '51 deluxe out back that if it doesn't sell, I'll probably start seeing how low I can take it. Only thing is the streets here suck so an airbag system would be necessary. =/

Front no drop spindles, modified steering arms, stepped lower a arms, 2 coils cut, modified spring cups for additional travel.rear dearched leaves 2 in and removed two leafs with 4 in blocks. Also going to build a custom skid plate for the fuel tank. Overall you cant slide a beer can under the rocker right side up.rocker edge meets up with the tapered edge of the top of can

Here is mine. I JUST TOOK THE BAGS OUT. Got tired of the noise, leaks ups and down and the damage to the lower rear quarter due to lifting it up.. Didnt want to thing what would happen it i blew a line or a bag. That happened to a friend of mine. He almost went into the wall on the freeway.
i have a MII with drop spindles and a 68 camaro rear end. THIS IS HOW LOW IT IS NOW AND GONNA STAY THAT WAY.

Yes in 53 they basically raised the perch on the upright (reason unknown ).but it will Lower 49-52 about and inch. There is an old article here in the 49-54 Chevy social grOup explaining it.

matt how is the ride. When I got my 50 it was already lowered. It rides ok but makes some hard hitting sounds when I end up on a bad road. I am going to get some stock coils up front and fix it. So keep posting guys need some good ideas.

Haven't driven this one yet Since I relowered it but have lowered a previous car this way... Rode very well IMO. A little stiff but not spongy like a wore out susp.I try to fine tune everything on mine ,every little change makes a big difference. Are the noises coming from front or rear on your car? If its the front it could be missing a rubber bump stop. If its heavily lowered in the rear It could need a c notch

With a 29'' tall tire, I've got about 4.5'' of clearance in the front and about 3'' in the rear. The suspension and drivetrain are all stock with stepped lower control arms/ 1.5 coils cut in the front and 3'' blocks/de-arched leafs in the rear(rear rails are stepped and fenderwells moved up).
