LOL thanks Rotten...I will definitely use the phrase"it will look good from Idaho" when critiquing my body work. :)

Well got the door jam squared away tonight. Had to cut out a half inch out of the top and a wedge about 3/4 of the way down. Now it's darn near perfect to the inside of the door and door panel. Some things even though you know it's not right, it just doesn't show up entirely until a certain step.

Well it's painted....I'm not happy with the outcome, cold temps, med reducer and I'm sure a bit of operator error caused a bunch of runs. My dilemma is that I want to get photos of Uncle Ray, my father-in-law, and Uncle Walt before much more time passes by....none of us are getting any younger....so gonna let it sit for a few days and dry and go from there.

Don't let those runs get you down. Happens to everybody. It will take several coats anyway.

DONT just spray more coats over the runs. I'm betting you already know this, but...

Runs are easy to fix, nothing a fresh razor blade, some sanding work and a buff can't fix! Looks good in the pics. Look forward to seeing it as it's completed!

Thanks for the encouragement. Had it not been for the runs this might have been the best paint job I had ever done. Few more quick shots.

A friend told me once, if it start to run add alot of paint until it is at the bottom.
Then take a rag and wipe off the drops that hanging on the edge. :D

Seems Photobucket is having issues near as I can tell. I saw other people were having the same problem on other sites. Hopefully they get their crap together soon.....it used to be a great service. Thanks

Up late last night, painting the interior and trunk area. It's all getting covered eventually so it was all about just making it black.

~ It is with a very very heavy heart that I make this update to my build thread.....
Our Uncle Ray passed away this past Wednesday (Oct 19, 2016), almost exactly 2 months after Aunt Sharon passed on. They had been friends since their school days and were married for well over 50 years.
I was so very fortunate to spend many hours talking with him about the roadster, it became a very special bond between us, and I truly believe he was very happy I was building it. I still have many many questions for him, but unfortunately will now probably go unanswered, but we were so fortunate that I kept him updated on the progress (and sometimes regrettably the lack of progress) and even took the roadster to Sacramento so he could see the car in person and we could get photos. Another one of our hot rodding forefathers has gone on this year, but I know they are all together up there having a grand time and hopefully looking down on us smiling at our own hot rods.

Condolences in this difficult time, I like you car, and I truly believe so did ray, remarking an item from his youth made him feel younger and happy.
And with the wonderful result you display here he most have been proud too!

Sorry for your loss. It's great that you had the opportunity to share your build with him before he passed. The car looks great due to your dedication to his original vision.

Thank you all for the very kind words...means a lot. Here is a great picture of Uncle Ray and Aunt Sharon in Merced around 1993ish. They were the epitome of style and class.
