I've been hanging around here for a while, as you can see. Fortunately none of these grenades have blowed up yet. I've been able to participate as well as learn from this incredibly unique community. Its time that I formally introduce myself.
My story - hung around news stands as a kid in the '50's. Absolutely captured and carried away by the creativity that was portrayed in the little car mags that was going on in So. Cal. My life's direction was set. I realized that the only way I was ever going to have any cars like this was to learn how to do this stuff myself. What started as an all consuming passion turned into a hobby, eventually became a business (Seattle area).Lots of custom body/paint work. I had a brief active involvement with drag racing, C/Gas Willys, T/Fuel FED, one year each. Lots of race car painting, etc. before and after. I remain a big fan. My business sold in '04. I retired to Texas (DFW) with all but one son in '07. We're lovin it.
As a kid, I would open the mags up to the cars I liked and literally paper the walls over in my bedroom. I had a couple of favorites.
I have purchased a '50 Ford Cpe and I and two of my sons are going to re-create a particular car that impacted me as a teenager. I have thought about this a lot since the late '80s. I will post pics as this project evolves.
Although my dad was a Ford dealer from '45 - '58, he made sure that I never got one of those flathead V8's. (My first four cars were Chev 6's.) We're going to need some help on this car, so it appears that I've arrived at the right place at the right time. There are going to be various pieces of trim, wheel/tires, exhaust system, grille/bumpers, engine parts, that will come off this car. They will be available to who ever may be interested.
The plan is to have a great bonding experience with my sons and fulfill a teenage dream. The car would then be sold, and my sons would have some down payment money out of the sale for houses.
I want to thank 40 Stude Dude, Geeman 51, Kustom 7777, Pig Pen, Flat Broke, A 30 Mo Fo, Hard Luck, and Fat Ford for your help in providing leads, parts, abuse, and friendship.
I have to say that its great to see the comaraderie, sharing and help amongst the participants on this site, compared to the rivalrys and testosterone-fueled posturing that we grew up with. I'm speaking to my age group (GET OFF MY LAWN!).

Don't do that. You, or your sons, will one day regret it.....
