Nice metal work, you're a brave man for attempting that project.

  7. I love this thread! I love basket case resurrections.

If anybody ever thinks that their project is too rough to save, they should read this entire thread. If this thread doesn't motivate you, check your pulse.

I know I'm just an FNG but I say save it! When I went to buy my Model T I was the second person there. The first guy was a restorer & I can still hear him laughing & saying " There's nothing left to save!"

IMG_7238.JPG IMG_6874.JPG IMG_7242.JPG IMG_7239.JPG IMG_7236.JPG It's been way too long since working on my willys coupe! I took an NHRA tagged cage from an old willys gasser fiberglass car that I sold a few months back. I cut out the bent bar from when the car hit the wall and welded in a new bar. It had a lot of goofy pieces welded as well so I cut out the old and tried to make it like a 60's style. The ladder bars were from the same car and needed a little work as well.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

    IMG_7906.JPG IMG_7908.JPG IMG_7929.jpg IMG_7930.JPG IMG_7928.jpg IMG_7909.JPG It's amazing how many parts I've recycled from other gassers and willys sedans.

I took these old ladder bars and robbed some heim joints from another set and made my version.

I bought $40 leaf spring brackets from Auto Zone and machined solid steel bushings for my front ladder bar bracket.

  20. Grrrreat job! I tink you should get the car running and not touch the body(as far as grinding down welds, paint etc.) for a couple seasons and call it "FrankenWillys"! It would be a shame to hide all yer great metalwork....right away at least....but wuddo i know....

  21. Just had a quick catch up on the progress. Great stuff.
