  1. Hey Durmyn29 super nice build, you put a lot of work into that car and the color choice fits it great. I too hope that one day my Sedan will be at that point too. The stants of your coupe is good, gives it that look that it going to jump up and be gone. Very cool work.

15" Ford steelie centers fit perfectly in early '60's Rambler American hoops. They are 4" wide, and they don't cost $150 a pop.

Always secure paint can lid before removing it from the shelf.

    Almost done with the headers.

Thanks to B&C industries for supplying the metal.

Headers are done and now the engine is going to Mark Engle for inspection and most likely assembly.

Well…. I brought the motor to Mark Engle for him to rebuild. I've built plenty of motors but I feel like it would be a better start with his years of knowledge. We both decided that once it's built it should hit the Dyno to have some assurance that it won't have issues AFTER it gets installed. I'm going to Dyno both motors, the Hilborn SBC in my 33 and the Hemi. I'm curious what the Horsepower difference will be. Oh yeah and I added door straps on "jigsaw", so along with the spilled paint and other nics, it's back at the paint shop for a few days.

Run those brand new aluminum rods, they would be good for 70 runs. As of now we have 409 cu inches, 8.53 to 1 compression, 670 lift and 290' @ .050 with 111' lobe separation. HUGE CAM I will complete my disassembly tomorrow I only put a couple hours on her today. My next concern is the heads, that is lots of lift for a 392, I will figure out where we are at and let you know. Mark Engle

Wow man, you really pulled it off. I remember how bad that body was when you started this thread. I would have been overwhelmed. You did though. It's no easy task to fit and weld in those replacement panels and keep everything lined up. Great work. I like the paint too. Not too flashy. Gives it a nice early to mid 60s vibe. The only thing that catches my eye is that front ladder bar mount. It sure looks like it could use reinforcing. With the torque of that hemi, it just looks like a potential weak spot. Great work though.

    Thank you for looking out!
I welded all areas of the ladder mount touching the frame AND I triangulated it with a thick round tube as well but maybe I should go back and take another look. Soon I'll be cutting into it and adding a slider at the front ladder mount as well.

On another note, I got my blower back today from The Blower Shop and it looks great!
I also had my halibrand's shot peened and getting them ready for some Gibbs with the helpful advise from Shakeypuddin55!

While I was there, a customer came in and was about to toss some old blower parts, I was very happy to take them off his hands.

The mount itself on the frame didn't concern me as much as the ladder bar necking down to that little rod end bolt, and then sticking out so far. That's what I really trying to say. It just looks like it could fatigue and fail easy. The mount on the frame is fine. I would want the rod end captured on both sides though. That slider may fix all that. You're going to have an awesome car. I think anyone would be proud to own it.

  23. Drumyn29,

Who did your Halibrands? They came out REALLY nice! I have a pair here I want to get done, but hadn't found anybody I trusted with them yet.

I do believe Kiwi Kev is the brother you haven't met, yet. You two metal benders HAVE to be related.

Yes. I have an Aunt who makes this Willys appear to be wearing a $20,000 paint job. She is not blood-related.

  28. Do you have any photos of the wheels in natural light with the Gibbs on it?

I met Kiwi Kev early on my build, he sent me a MUCH needed set of door hinges, no charge. A VERY great guy.
