One of the best cars at the HAMB Drags this year. I was honored to line up against a car with such history and character... damn near 60 years worth of it! Malcolm
Standing there with some of my best friends listening to that story is – without a doubt – one of my favorite times at the HAMB Drags. Seth rules.
that car was , is bad ass. i had no idea that the 2 times i towed him back from the end of the return lane with my golf cart the amount of history i was toting. cool guy too boot.
Mercy! What a great story; so good to see an historical car retained to its original purpose and Flathead to boot. Ryan you sit us up; had me worried there for a minute. You folks notice the guy sitting there thumbing thru the Photo Album, I need me some of that.
..And just for doing that, the old flathead drag roadster put a curse on my clutch disc, grenading it and sending my car on a trailer for the ride home.
I got the chills every time that car went down the track. Flipping through the scrapbook that Bud's wife made documenting the car's history with the new owner was nothing short of amazing...
The cars, the history, the people that built and raced them and all of us trying to recapture it, is the essence of this site and this event in my humble opinion. You just don't realize what you're walking by and looking at if you don't stop and look and listen. It's hard to take it all in at once, but the opportunity is there. Thanks Ryan.
Young wordsmiths take note; this half-paragraph is pure literary gold. And the car's pretty nifty too! Wish I coulda' made it!
This is real perfection - its got it all - the car, the guy, the friendship - the history, the story - and the photos. Thanks Ryan. This is captured so vividly. I'm happy just knowing this happened.
Couldn't have been planned better... watch over us Bud we're just a ratty group of dumbasses trying to hold onto to a place and time we've only heard about
I was too busy running the event to take any action shots unfortunately... In fact, this car is the only car I shot all day long. I took the photos right before the rain came down in sheets.
I did. First time to do color for me... It was fun, but as expensive as that stuff is, I won't be making a habit of it!
Thats a nice Leica setup. I'm still looking for an M3 and the Lux lens is superb. Not heard of that film but its beautiful. I had an M8 with the 50mm Lux
What a great post....................one of my all time H.A.M.B. favs.................I love that car, thanks for the story, and great to know it's in good hands!
