I remember those types of gasser's well and there were alot of them back in those day's I think one of the biggest mistakes the N.H.R.A. ever made was when they god rid of the old Modified Production class cars. They were so popular back in 60's and 70's Why would you take something that was so popular and start changing things? The old saying "If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It" rings in my head. Just my opinion. Jimbo
All too often we get stuck on the wrapper and not the candy inside. In the world of the 1/4 mile the only thing that matters is results at the end win or lose, what is on the time slip and next time can I go faster.
Hi. On Silverdome's signature comment - 1 man, 2 doors, 3 gears, 4 tires, 5 windows, 6 cylinders, GO, GO, GO - - Man, I like that comment as it just says it all for me. Where is McCune? I picked up my little 46 Coupe shown in my avitar in Quinter last year. Jimmie
MANY years ago, at a speed shop in Everett, Wa., was a static display of one of these Overland Willys Jeeps. Beautiful drag car with paneling, lacing, and multiple colors in the paint job. That was the only time I ever saw this drag car; never saw it run at any track, and I'm pretty sure it was't just a show car. I'm not completely sure if it was the wagon version or was a panel, that I don't remember, but I've always wondered what happened to it. Never saw it in a car show either. Any "older-than-me-timers" remember the car? Butch/56sedandelivery.
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...rs-from-drag-racings-glory-days.877372/page-2 You did see post #52 didn't you? I think it ranks right up there with Von Dutch painted tail-gates.
Because they're kind of stupid that way.Probably the same reason I haven't been to a national event in the last 10 years.Joey, great story!
Thanks, Jimmie McCune is in southeast Kansas about 30 miles west and north of Mo-Kan dragstrip, the proud home of the H.A.M.B. DRAGS. Nice '46. Where is Quinter?
A fellow called Dump had a Willys Jeep Panel he raced at Coles County Dragway. He built it after his sweet read Willys coupe was wrecked on the street. That panel was cool and quick.
