Specific, and sometimes very obscure, hot rods have floated around my head since... well, every since I can really remember. And each can be brought to my conscience at the spur of the moment and typically by triggers that seem random enough. This on...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
I like the look of the early radials, Michelin, Continental, Pirelli and Bridgestone all had them out by then
I love that look. When I was looking for wheels for my 40, polished 5 spokes was the look I was going for. Any polished 5 spoke from back in the early 60's was bought as cast and had to be polished. That's what I did with my wheels too as American had discontinued the Torque Thrust for a while. Anyway, I digress..........
Member HEMI32's street driven "HEMI32". "1964 (Fremont, California): American Racing (magnesium) Torq Thrust rear rims. Bruce's slicks took 0.5 seconds off ET." http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=73
When I was young,American 5 spokes were on a good amount of the fast cars, and it was Cragars for the "All Show,No Go" look.
A mid sixties picture of my 1930 Model A coupe. This coupe was a hot rod in the forties with a hopped up 60 flattie, full fendered with kelsey wires. Then channelled in the fifties with a Isky cammed, tri powered Y block Ford with Mercury steel wheels. Then drag raced in the sixties with a small block chevy and the 5 spoke wheels. Now, we still have this hot rod with the 57 corvette engine and steel wheels with white walls. This ole hot rod still goin' thanks to my son's for carring on the tradition.
Early 1963: Moon discs & white walls ... with me (age 2) "driving". Late 1963: Added molded rear fenders, aluminum hood by Jack Hagemann Sr., '56 Cadillac "Mandan Red" lacquer, and American Racing (magnesium) "LeMans series" Torq Thrust front rims. 1964: Added American Racing (magnesium) Torq Thrust rear rims mounted on Bruce's slicks.
This thread makes me all warm and tingly.....Great stuff, and way to spur the topic out of the chute Ryan...well done.
Right on Ryan! My favorite look. This car came with 15x6 round spokes out front and chrome rev out back. Since 1973 I've only ran real Americans on all my rods. My 3w swaps between 15x4 and 15x6 Leman's or 15x6 bents and rounds. Quite a few others instock. Show me more...show me more!
There's 2 or 3 from Friday's Jalopy Journal post that were at the (I'm assuming, from the program cover on the article) '63 GNRS. Pretty sweet spread.
Paul is still around. Still runs the Hayward Ca. automotive machine shop his father started in the '40s. Mostly does Harley stuff now. The Studebaker powered A roadster is long gone. He now drives a A.C. Cobra. I see him now and then when he and his wife visit neighbors of mine up here. Took him for a ride in my Cad. powered T roadster a while back. He loved watching the front suspension working. I'll send him this link. He'll get a kick out of it.
