I'll post a 1967 color photo of Don "Crash" Cragar with his figure-8 stock over on the Stock Car Thread.

    Some Southern Modified Posts....

Although I'm from LI, I took a liking to Paul Radford from VA. I only saw him race a handful of times in person, but he was impressive when he ran. I don't know what his reputation was but he seemed to be a clean driver and very level headed, not to mention, good. He's got to be one of the all time winners at Martinsville in both Modifieds and Late Models and I think he won a ton of races at Bowman Gray Stadium and the tracks down South. Maybe someone could fill us in on some of his history and how he was viewed by his competitors. Rich Oakley recently informed me that one of his nickhames was the Ferrum Flash. Here are some pictures and things I either cut out or accumulated from the internet over the years...

Moving onto the Clarence Steak house vega years. I believe the car was a vega, but I believe there was also a monza towne coupe as well. Not sure if Paul Radford drove both or Satch Worley drove one and he drove the other....

I raced with Paul during the "Eastern Bandit Days" and I will vouch for the fact he was a clean driver. You could race hard and wheel to wheel with him and never worry. He was smooth and he was good. Denny Z

....And here is Paul Radford back in the Mason 45... a gremlin at this point....I am not positive on the chronology, but I believe Paul Radford hopped back in the Mason 45 after his stretch of driving the Clarence Steakhouse Gremlin and vega/monza towne coupe....

not sure who is in the #49 alongside Paul Radford in the #45

racing with Wayne Anderson in the #15 at Martinsville

Paul Radford in victory lane after winning the modified portion of the Dogwood 500 at Martinsville, this after winning the late model sportsman portion a few hours before (I believe Ray Hendrick may have been the only other person to do that)

Paul Radford following up those two wins at Martinsville with another onein the Spring 150. I believe the #07 he is driving was owned by a Wayne Speedy Thomas

Radford in the #07 again up north this time battling Chip Lanz #77 and Bernie Miller #41 at Utica Rome

And a not so good day in the #07 for Paul Radford as he flips and then gets hit and his car erupts in flames. Luckily, his injuries were not serious on this day.

and the last I have on Paul Radford...this time in the #18...not sure who the car owner was...and if this was before or after his stint in the #07....

looks like an Evans built car...the rake and front end...might just be the orange color....

Radford up North at Pocono for the ROC with the car temporarily renumber 98

Paul back down south with a little different view of the track and competitor Ralph Brinkley in the #9

For some reason I have this car identified as Paul Radford, but I am not sure...maybe someone can confirm...

Next up in my scrapbook is another southern modified driver whose career seemed to be intertwined with Paul Radford. I am not sure if they were adversaries or friends. Or if Paul Radford was the meantor and Donald "Satch" Worley was the pupil, but they seemed to bounce back and forth between the Mason #45 and the Clarence Steakhouse #26 as well as the #07 and #18 cars. Here are some pictures of Satch Worley....

Here is Satch in the Mason #45 racing Bugs Stevens in the #15 at Martinsville. When Bugs Stevens vacated the ride in the Bob Garborino Mystic Missle #4 in the late 80's, I believe Satch Worley was the one who came up north and took over the controls of the Garbarino #4....
