50's/60's International pickups anyone brave enough to build one ?

    How did you achieve your stance in the rear? Any pictures?

    the truck is bagged... the rear has a 4 link. that's as low as the back will go down I didn't c notch the frame so the axle is sitting on the rubber stops.

    the front is mustang II and will actually set the bumper on the ground when you dump all of the air.

    all I can say is... when you use bags on these trucks you loose lots of room. everything is tight. the frame seems narrow compared to chevy's. I had to run the exhaust out the side because there was no room to run it over the axle....

    I am facing the same problems with tightness. I plan on dumping the exhaust out the side at the end of the step. I just flipped axle over spring and I think it will work out but as you said... tight.

    mac, nice looking truck. i am hoping to get my '60 down a little this winter.

    anybody flip the axles to the top of the springs on one of these?

    There is a pic there of my A (Aust assembled) S110.

    Has a SBC (ZZ4) and a TH350 trans. 421hp on the dyno. Has a (Aust) Chrysler Charger LS diff.

    Since that photo I have taken a couple of leaves out of the front and improved the stance.

    In NZ these trucks are relatively rare - but I really enjoy it.....

    Have a look at my thread and compare it to Nicks (nwaringa), the difference in height is the rear shackle being up or down

    Re cab corners - Australasian models of this era had a Dodge 'Pilot house' cabin from the cowl back. If you could find one of those you might find the corners reasonably easy to use......

    Note how mine has the double rear window which had already been done away with in the US. Also this model was produced until late 1958, whereas in the US the newer shape was introduced in late 1957.

    Out here C1100 and D1110 models came out with disc brakes all around, while they were not introduced in the US until much later.

    I am trying to find a front end out of one of them - I am led to believe they will bolt right into mine!!

    421hp proves a little difficult to stop with the old drums...!
     
  10. Guys anyone done a ranger frame ? I know some people have done s 10. what are the pros and cons ??

    the ranger frame gives you all the problems 2wd ford truck owners have dealt with for years-junk-ass twin traction beam suspension.if you love buying truckloads of tires for a truck that doesnt handle,go right ahead.

    I'm currently working on a "38" IH pick up, but it will be a "recycled rod" w/305 Chevy, AT, suicide 4" dropped front axel, shortened bed, and plenty of custom touches.

    Well, here is my project. Working on getting a 12-volt generator mated in there. The old girl still runs! Just looking for the hood ornament, hood lip chrome.     finally got some new shoes for my 'binder.

  19. Just sold our Travelall. Took time and $$$$$. 4 spd, V8 and solid too. $700 what a deal.
    Paid $650 for it. put a few hundred into it. 6 months to sell it for $750

    What year Merc did he use? I am assuming he repowered with Merc engine.

    My Grandpa bought a new 1 ton IHC in 1970, and my Dad has had it since the early 80's. The cab is rotted away, but the chassis and running gear are fine.
    I am going to transplant a '55 R190 COE cab onto it and build a custom bed. This will keep their truck alive for quite awhile.

    Nice find! Where in Alberta are you if you don't mind me asking, and how did you manage to score that truck for free. I have a 55 S100 project in the works as well.
