Very Nice, I have to agree, Art first, hot rods present and accounted for (but never second).

Always beautiful artwork for sure. I like it when they always fill my computer screen with color.

I bought a great little painting from Ruben a couple of years ago. It's hanging in a special place... and what a bargain!

Ruben, your work seems to be getting even better! Congrats man!

I'd seen 'Sailor's Girl' (is that the right title?) on Ruben's site---about flipped out when I saw it in person at Doc's house
I ,too, have one of Ruben's paintings, and I'm waiting for him to do another big one that "talks" to me. I WILL have another piece by him someday;)

  19. An amazingly talented artist:cool:.

I get a kick out of his various mediums: oil on canvas, oil and transmission fluid on canvas, oil and motor oil on canvas...

    Hardcore hot rod art!!!!

I wanted the Sailors Girl pretty badly. The only consolation I have is that it ended up with a great guy.

  22. Amazing Art, Amazing Artist. That painting of the Dick Flint roadster is my favourite. Sweet 16 with Wally Parks in the cockpit is a close second.

His art is in the new Rod&Kulture. I really like the coupe with the sailor and his girl also. It caught my eye as I was thumbin through the pages at the newstand. Very nice work, I also agree it reminds me of Norman Rockwell's art. later shawn

"Shop Girl" is great. It's a talented artist who can capture mechanical detail and human features equally well.

So Doc owns "Sailor's Girl", that's a real nice painting.
Being in Oz, Ruben's work first came to my attention a couple of months ago, when a painting (number 7 above) was published full page in a magazene that shall remain nameless. Since then R&K Illustrated has done a spread, kool stuff.
In his story Mike Parker described Ruben's style as like, among other things, "Juxtapoz Magazine collided with The Saturday Evening Post". He also said (for those who haven't seen the article) that Ruben mixes engine oil, trans. fluid and brake fluid in with his paints to maintain the connection with his subjects, the cars.
Ruben Duran is one hep kat!
