Some old style long tube under motor headers or ram horns to me, Those lime fire are just to way over done and that iswhy I think we put it into the 2009 era. tri-power would set it off, Chrome Steel wheels for a finished approach, The cool thing about a Model a Coupe built like you have it, In a few hours you can totally change the year, etc that the car represents, I say put some miles on it terrorizing the streets for a while, who cares about 50's, 60's. It about getting out and driving them. Hot ROds Rule

That's just the color that screamed to me when I looked at your coupe. Not an incredibly bold Gold with heavy flake but more of a pale subtle gold that you would find on a Lexus today. Something with a lot of class and a touch of sass my friend!!!

Now if you wanted to add a bit more sass to that color then fog in candy red from the bottom up and maybe around the firewall to accent the stainless steel sheet you made to replace the flat fiberglass looking one. Oh and don't forget to put some gauges in the firewall too!!!!

Well, I was here in Southern California in the whole hot rod scene during the mid-60's. I turned 16 in 1966 and bought my Model A panel with a SBC. Before that I amused myself hanging out at the drag strips.
My whole world was hot rods and SoCal was the drop-dead center of the universe at that time for rodding.
    I was very lucky....

Oh yeah, I was born in Buffalo, NY in 1982 and it was the fucking pits!!! HAHAHAHA!!!! I can't imagine growing up during that time and witnessing the whole thing when it was probably at it's peak!

Grits, I went back and looked at your coupe, and to be fair, different regions of the Country had different styles that hung on longer than others.
I'd say that your white-wall tire would make it more of an early 60's look. At least, around here, white-walls were pretty well gone from rods by '64-'65.
Customs still had them, but thats a different animal.

The Early Times Club here in SoCal were trend-setters of sorts.
This roadster was a Barris built car that was on the cover of Popular Hot Rodding

The club President, Bob Darrah, bought it and made some changes to get it to creep into the mid-late 60's era. Like it or not, this was the way the trend was moving back then

another trend setter was Jake's Model A

cobbed-webbed fenders and disk brakes were a new deal...

Yeah, it was called that...Tom Booth and his brother Bill were in the club...good guys, all of them

Street gassers were also popular around here. American mags and Halibrands were the wheel of choice along with Cragars.
This was my Model A in 1968:

the Hillman had a 427 Ford and the Anglia had a 340 Mopar, both street driven daily.
I got the Anglia from a little old lady for $15

Cool car Grits, keep us posted, good advice offered that'll get you where you want to go I think.
Jeffrey James - love that T - looks like something out of a Weesner painting!

Point of order: this series of photos is remarkable for the photo of the white roadster.

Because next to that roadster with the chrome wheels is? Bobbleed's former truck, the coolest truck ever!

Anyone know when this was taken--if he still owned it then, or is it a current pic?

Bitchen either way. Only way that truck would improve is if it were parked in my garage, etc., etc.

What about the 'raked' engine - high at the front and low at the back. That seems to stick with me as a hallmark of a '60s built rod.
