    Chieftain,
How's Gasser coming along? Have you had her up to the track yet? I hope to have 55' Fairlane up to GLD the first 20 years event this Saturday & make couple passes & see how it shakes out! Meltdown crew is going to be their so it should be fun!

I went ahead and put some lettering and graphics on the car although it's still in primer. I have some fiberglass doors to install and should be about all i'm going to do for now.

Are the fiberglass doors for a Pontiac or do Chevy doors work?

The doors and glass will interchange along with the decklid at least on the sedan, that's about all that will crossover unless you start getting into Canadian Pontiacs with the Chevy frame/suspension etc...

I cut the inner structure out of my decklid but could shave some more weight of course with a fiberglass one

That looks great!! I have a stock one just like it for sale in the Classifieds right now... Maybe I should do this with it if it doesn't sell.

Here's a video and shot from the Meltdown Drags. These guys put on a great event, it's a blast to go back every year. The temps were over 100 with the humidity and was running 11.90's. I have a few more things I'd like to do if time allows including getting the fiberglass doors on and some more tuning.

  11. Good talking with you at the Meltdown! I saw the car make a few passes and it looked bad ass going down the track! Impressive times for a heavy car!

Thanks , it was nice to meet up with you and the other Hambers there. Yours looks great and pretty quick too. It's close to 3600 now so I have quite a bit of work to lighten it up.

Back to work on this thing, took out the inner fenderwells and moving battery to trunk so taking some weight off the front end. Bought sub plates, headers flanges, pipes and collectors and building a set of fenderwell headers. Will be 1 7/8 off the head than stepped to 2", these 1 5/8 headers aren't helping much. Moving up to a dana60 as well and taking out the 8.8 explorer rear before my next engine top end combo goes on.. I need to rewire under the hood now also taking the fenderwells out.

Too bad the extra weight of the Dana isn't going to cover what i'm taking off the front end, but I think with moving the battery to the back will help more with weight transfer than anything. I won't be happy till the front wheels are way off the ground. If all else fails will have to get a transbrake .

I got started on the headers a bit working on the easy side. I'm using the subplates for the larger tubes and also
makes the bolt pattern quite a bit wider for the Pontiac d port heads. I still have some adjusting to do on the passenger side. Hardest part about the driver side will be to go behind the steering column and between the frame. I will have to redo the wiring now and rerout some brake lines but shouldn't bee to bad.

I got both side headers tacked together. I also have to reshape the center flange tubes into a d shape and build up the center port. Also need to rewire , and reroute brake lines and install line lock

Wild, to say the least. can you mount some ballast to rear of frame, or something, to get wheels up? some earlier cars ran a large diameter steel tube filled with concrete, etc, as a rear bumper to get frontend up.

Cool. I have to go here as soon as we get the frame finished. I've found them but I'm just curious.....where did you get the flanges and collectors from?

I have a local guy that hopefully will cut me a set but I haven't asked how much yet. LOL

I think between the dana 60 and moving the battery to the back should help. My next engine combo should help out also
