Has anyone successfully modified the springs in an original seat to be firm and not bouncy?

Sold my seat & bought a Glide unit. Problem solved.

Wish I could remember where I saw a post about this. It wasn't too long ago..... Well anyway one fella said that his upholsterer stuffed some foam rubber into the the springs to stiffen them up. I'll look around and see if I can find the post.

    Try the Ford Barn.

  7. On my 47 front seat, the upholsterer stuffed foam into each coil, then ran a stiff wire from each coil across the top, tying them together.. High density foam was used across the top of the whole seat. Helped quite a bit in getting rid of the bounciness.

Same thing on mine. Stuffed foam into each coil, added foam over the top. Still kinda bouncy, but much better and really comfortable on my old tush. 110% better than the bucket seats that were in it!

Have had many 40 seat done-one in shop now. The bottom spring is removed and two layers of different density foam is angle cut and fit, Looks right when done and very comfortable as well--no more bouncy feeling.
