The 239 C.I. engine is original to the car and was professionally rebuilt by the previous owner. I added a set of Edelbrock finned aluminum heads and an Offenhauser dual carb manifold with new Holley 94 carburetors. A skip Haney reworked coil and a Bubba's reworked distributor improve the overall performance of the otherwise stock Merc engine. The car starts immediately and runs thru dual Brockman Mellow Tone glass pack mufflers The original cast iron manifolds were jet hot coated in a cast grey color and the 2" diameter exhaust system is aluminumized. Compression in each cylinder reads 125 and the vacuum shows a steady 20.

The immaculate body was stripped to bare metal using a 4" wide razor knife. No chemicals or blasting were used. The prep and paint system used is Sikkens. After several coats of primer and lots of block sanding the beautiful Maroon base coat was applied to the laser straight panels followed by several coats of clear. It was then color sanded, buffed and polished to perfection.

The transmission has been dismantled, inspected and only needed new synchronizer
rings and fresh oil. A new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing replaced the old. Also new are the master cylinder, brake lines, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, brake cables, resurfaced brake drums, steel fuel tank, sending unit, fuel lines that run thru an insulated heat resistant jacket, fuel pump, aluminum radiator, hoses, 6 volt battery, voltage regulator, starter solenoid and cloth covered wiring like factory original.
The car runs cool, shifts smooth, sounds great and never misses a beat, it's truly a fun car to drive.

The QUALITY interior is breathtaking in 50's traditional style rolls and pleats in a combination of leather and vinyl. Carpet is vintage style Mercedes tight weave wool with leather binding. The trunk compartment is also upholstered and includes a matching case for holding waxes, etc. Dynamat was used throughout. All new tinted glass, window rubber, door seals, channel, and fuzz strips are new.
The beautiful rich wood grained dashboard and garnish moldings were crafted by one of the best in the business and contrast perfectly with the interior colors. Also included, but not installed is a N.O.S. 1939 Motorola radio still in the original Motorola carton with all the paperwork and mounting hardware. I haven't installed it because I didn't want to drill a hole in the body to mount the antennae. I'll let it up to the new owner to decide. A new 1939 Ford Banjo steering wheel was modified to work with the original Mercury light switch and horn button.

Original running boards have new rubber molded to them by Huntley Acuff, the best in the business.

Bumpers, guards and other items have been show chrome plated and all stainless trim has been professionally buffed. Tires are Coker classic on 1950 Merc wheels with '50 Merc wheel covers and trim rings.

The underside if finished in chassis black no undercoating.
1940 Mercury taillight assemblies replace the stock units and a '48 Mercury gas door was also added. These were the only body mods done.

This coupe has to be one of the finest anywhere and needs nothing. It's a fun car to drive and draws crowds at all the cruises.
