Hot Rods 1931 Model A The Harbor Kustom's Coupe, A "Bonneville/Rolling Bones" style build!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HarborKustomSpeedShop, May 5, 2014.

  1. Justin, I am about to start a similar build but with a Brookville '32 frame. It is a roller deal I purchased from another member. Can you give me the measurement at the frame in front of the cowl mounts outside to outside for reference. It does not appear that mine has been pinched but I would not know as this the first A build I am doing. Appreciate it.

  2. Diggit man. Very clean all around

  3. You should be able to compare to stock frame measurements.... That'll tell you if your frame is pinched or not.

  4. I pinched mine 1.5 at the cowl, 32' frames are 32" at the cowl as the diagram show. I used wescott diagrams to set mine up also.

    Thanks man

Thanks curbspeed, your build is bitchin! im following it...

  5. Thanks Justin. I pulled the prints off of the Westcott site. (same as what Speedy attached above) and it is a stock dimension at 32". Pinching on mine will be a lot of work since it is boxed and the cross members are all in. May look into other alternatives.

  6. No problem, you can always pie cut the firewall and spread the cowl out at the bottom.

  13. Ok here's the update I promised last week.

Found some shocks that would work on the rear just had to get creative to mount them, also had to remove the sub floor and raised it to clear the mounts. While the sub floor was out I decide to cut out and replace the wheel tubs.

Found a ton of bondo by the rear passenger side wheel area.

Heres the wheel tubs done, don't have a picture of the other side.

Next I started on the floor kick-up in the front and the trans tunnel. the double step is so the wood floor will sit flush with the upper flat area.

Next I notched for the drive line and started the driveline tunnel and the floor.

Hey Justin, what did you use for pedals? Looked back and didn't see you mention it, may have missed it though...

excellent work!! i love the rolling bones style and build type. And even better yet, this is on a model a!! a little more affordable to the common hotrodder. The chassis and suspension is awesome. Nice to see some details as to how you achieved the stance. The 5 3/4 chop was spot on also! cant wait to see this car done, or at least drivable

Very nice work! .....I like your steering setup.

  28. Quick update had to un-channel the front and drop the rear down to get the hood to fit right. Picked up another hood to stretch mine with this week. so here's a teaser shot for you guys... should have another update this weekend.
