Hot Rods 1930 Coupster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by [email protected], Jan 16, 2015.

  1. Happy with the way my 1930 Coupster turned out.
Someone cut the roof off this old coupe back in the early 70s then gave up on it. I dragged it out of the barn in 2014 and after a lot of work it looks like this.

  15. Excellent looking vehicle. You changed my mind about coupsters. You spent the time to address the areas that ruin most coupsters, the blending of the windshield posts and the thickness of the door tops. I like the wide doors. One question, I almost hate to ask, with all the work you obviously spent, would you do it again or look for a roadster to start with? What would your advice be to someone about to undertake a coupster project (general question, I am not planning on doing one)?

  16. Good question.... actually I'm pretty tall so I like the extra space and leg room. Also kind of fun to do something a bit different.

  17. Not sure on the color yet. Will run the primer for a while and see how it goes.

  19. I am sure you already know it but most primers unless sealed will allow moisture to pass through and rust the metal below.

This is a beautiful car! I will never get why anybody wants to cut the roof of a coupe. But I do see why people wants to make the best out of a torched out coupe.
And you sure did your best and it came out great. And I don't see any issues with the look, at all!!

This is truely the roadster for a tall man!

Do you have any more pictures, we can't have too many.

    And coupster are truly traditional!!

  26. This one looks like a coupster and I'm not feeling the grill shell.

Yes the shell is weird, but if run with a hood, it looks almost as good as a track nose, too me.

And this is not to take focus from the car at hand, it's a matter of keep bumping the thread BTT, so the OP gets the chance to post more pics of his ride and tell stories about how it feels on the road!
