Hi hambers looking for some help on the 57 I just acquired What parts brakes, glass, suspension, body and trim ( like on tailgate tail strips there's 7 including a tailgate handle)etc are interchangeable with other Chevys? not really sure kinda blind on this one... Also want to do a disc brake 2 inch drop spindle on it, any info would be great Any help or info Please pm me with your number if you've done this already and can help me out
I think the tail gate strips are the same (its a Safari right like a Poncho Nomad?) I doubt that any of the glass is interchangeable and the brakes are going to be closer to a Buick then Chevy. But brake and suspension parts can be purchased new from NAPA and more recently Autozone. I don't know anyone that makes drop spindles for it but you should be able to adapt Chevy spindles to is with a little finagling. I am sure that Pontiac was a full independent front suspension by '57 so that would make the adaptation pretty easy.
i dont think glass will interchange, but a good shop should be able to make the flat stuff. spindles might be more of a bop thing than chevy.
Glass same as Chevy, weather strips same as Chevy, Floor pans unique to Pontiac, but available, Fatman used to have drop spindles still might check their website, Scarebird has a disc brake setup, but might not work with dropped spindles. What else do you wanna know? KK
It's a star chief 2 door hardtop wagon no door posts It's one of 1262 produced Need lots of help with info and parts to build I will need Thx roger
Pics could help. Cdn ponchos were built on a chevy frame with shorter front sheetmetal than the american cars.
