was it literally a small box pop up, or a clone of the ebay sign in page? i can't remember what went on, but somethin fishy happened when i was scouring ebay for WWI stuff...
Thanks for the heads up Tingleberry. I get 4-5 emails a week from 'PayPal' telling me I need to confirm my user name and password.
Heads up on all that "Second Chance" auction BS too! I've gotten those offers a handful of times, ignored them, and within the hour recieved emails from the real eBay saying they were scams and to report them. Keep an eye out when cruising Craigslist as well...
Noooo, if Tingler were a Perv, he'd write to tell us all how good "Brokeback Mountain" was... Instead, he, like all red-blooded men, LIKES to look at naked women. Seems pretty normal to me... Cosmo
Someone posted a link here to a similar auction, it quickly opened a new window that looked exactly like the ebay sign in page. The address was only slightly different, and there was no golden padlock in the bottom right hand corner. You'd think ebay could figure out a way to block this crap.
Well there's your problem... You should've been looking at Flathead, Nailhead or at least Hemi stuff...
Ting, I too caught on too that. There also was no security pad lock in the lower left corner. I'm going abck to my usual porn sites. Too risky on ebay Bill
has anyone noticed the rash of late 50's early 60's corvettes with buy it now prices of like 7500$? most seem to get cancelled right away.
Reported this to ebay. Hopefully this way they will disable the code which causes a pop-up to appear when you click on an auction, along with suspend this nasty seller. Thanks for the heads up... never seen this one before. -David '61 Falcon Ranchero '73 Norton Commando
Not all "second chance" offers are bull. I've sent them to the second highest bidder when the highest flaked before. Also, sellers with more than one of the same item will sometimes send them to the non winning bidders also. In that case it pays to not win the auction, cause you'll just pay your highest bid.
I'm sad to report that I fell for this trickery. I sure am glad I checked this post, I just went back and changed my password to something different... Thanks for the heads up before something bad happened!!
changed all my shit tonight, ebay and paypal both. thanks man. can't hurt to be careful. seemed like a little glitch to me, might have not been signed in, might not have been a scammer, but i oughta be good now with a new password.
Although I was able to check the user's ID, he had a bunch of good feedback from buyers and sellers alike. He also had a bunch of car auctions listed with the same page transferring script..
like i said, it wasn't on the chevy auction that i saw somethin like this, so i hope i'm ok, nothin out of the ordinary, just an auction for a part to an M1903 springfield rifle. kinda obscure... if we change our password and all that, we oughta be ok, right? dude can't start a new sale without current info, right?
the user ID that got me was dunkin316. His auctions are for a Bel Air, Barracuda, Typhoon, and an Eldorado. All starting at $100... Watch out!
my mother got here info (identity) stolen last summer on egay.. popped up and looked just like the real thing... didnt lose any $$$ just a pain in the ass gettin new card-BANK ACCOUNT--#s and what not......thats why this is the only site i frequently visit. but thanx for the heads up anywhos.......
YES! I thought instant rip off ads but I opened one just to look at the beautiful picture of this red vette & the buy it now logo went all over the screen whenever I moved my mouse & would'nt let go. So I dragged my mouse down to the bottom and closed out. Amaazing how these people can get into ebay & do this kind of crap! Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy
I only clicked on it to LEARN. I wasn't going to look at the picture. [/quote] I went just to check out the picture!
I've never bought or sold anything on ebay hell I've only been there when one of you post a got to see this link on here,Every once in a while I get notified I won auction #xxxxxxxx or an I paid where's my goods email threatening negative feed back.I've been just reporting them as junk mail to my service because thats all I know how to do
Ya thanks for the warning, I received an e-mail a while back, said my account was going to be cancelled and asked for my username and password to reactivate, ya right ...... be careful.
