We just got back to Brandon's roadster after getting ready for next month's Auto Rama. Last week was spent finishing the structure for the body and making body mounts. Today we started mocking up the engine and trans mounts.

I imagine the bonnet is there just to get the proportions etc?

Here are a few shots of what we did to beef up the body to maintain the door openings and also so we could use the rumble seat:

Here 'Johny Rocket' demonstrates the rumble seating position:

All of the pipes in the sides of the body go through the subrails and were welded to another pipe that spans the length of the body. Then a four foot long plate welded to the subrail pipe becomes half of the body mount. Another plate welded to the frame becomes the other part of the mount:

Brandon is going to run a hood top, so we had to position the engine so that the 8 carb'ed Hemi will be under it...:

After a bit of triming the grille shell to the correct height to get the hood to sit correctly, we squared up the engine and trans. We finished the trans mount and then just stared at the car for about an hour and a half... Monday night we make the engine mounts...

No, we did it on a home-made jig. It's just a wood platform that is perfectly flat and level. We bored holes in the top of the platform to clamp the body pieces down and used a lazer line / level to square the whole thing up... [IMG]

Very cool, looking forward to seeing this one at Autorama! I really like the fact your putting in the rumble seat, that is going to be a very nice touch. I wish more guys would do this, just a cool feature and still pretty uncommon!

Thanks Aaron. Just a heads up, we won't be at the Auto Rama in MI. We're only going to the SLC Auto Rama. We would like to show at the MI. Auto Rama, but we just can't make it happen...

Then we squared the engine and trans again using the trusty laser line. Very handy tool…

After that, we started messing around with different engine mount designs and discussing where the generator and what-not will go…

Yeah this project was put on hold because of some money issues...any donations to mother goose to get it one the road? I keep trying to tell him to sell a testicle but for some reason he does not like that idea.

No updates it is simply sitting in a garage...so close to being driven to...:(

A new project is in the works...thread soon to come from the Salt City Speed Shop:D:D:D:D

  28. um.....still no progress/updates? keen to see more if possible...

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)
