Hot Rods Looking for info on my car.

Does anyone have any info on the history of this 40 coupe? I was told by the previous owner that it came out of California. It looks identical to the car on the cover of the book "Pinky" written by Jay Carnine aka H.A.M.B. member C-9. Any information is appreciated. Thanks Mark.
